projects and the future ofthe college sanchez said moe taught at lousiana state for six years and purdue university for 11 years where his teaching experience was recognized with the 1973-74 university's college of education has been appointed dean of the college of education at lehigh beginning july 1 moe will replace paul vanßeed miller who is retiring after 22 years of service at morning the wick was lit but the flame went out as it crashed through the window according to bethlehem fire marshal william reinhard the molotov cocktail was made of a moosehead beer bottle which contained a sock that was lit on fire and some kind of liquid believed to be kerosene chris weltzien the student whose bedroom window the bottle went through was not in the room at the time according to one sigma phi epsilon brother weltzein came into the room afterwards and started to pick up the bottle at that point he realized that the window was broken and the room smelled like kerosene sigma phi epsilon president tony caciolo rang a bell in the house alerting the rest ofthe house several brothers saw one or possibly two men running down the hill around the corner of delta phi fraternity and chased after them the men however were already too far away to be caught it's under invesigation by lehigh campus police and myself...9o percent of it is in lehigh's hands reinhard said see sig ep paye 6 the university's overall goal is to avoid problems not to wait until they happen he explained the police will be there to prevent and not to suppress smeaton also said next year each fraternity hosting a party will have to designate four house members to take personal responsibil ity to ensure their party is being conducted in accordance with the social policy the committee also decided students partic ipating in the party patrol will have to undergo an extensive training program this spring so they will be ready for the beginning of next semester the committee estimated approx imately 40 students will be needed for service on the party patrol smeaton said if 40 students could not be found to serve then the responsibility would fall back on the house officers by jon krasnoff brown and white news writer the social policy enforcement committee met monday and proposed a new party patrol which would involve two lehigh students teaming up with a security guard to patrol the hill on friday and saturday nights the purpose of the party patrol is to make sure fraternities hosting parties are abiding by lehigh's social policy senior pam rosenblatt committee co-chair woman said the purpose of the patrol is to correct the problem at the time ofthe incident instead of reprimanding the house the next week dean of students john smeaton a commit tee member indicated the administration has already decided there will definitely be a police presence on the hill next year he said nation minds our p and q lehigh wins ecc the brown and white by david tratner brown and white sports editor see champions on back page they finally came through it seemed that all season the men who play basketball on south mountain would take their fans for a ride heighten their hopes only to have their hearts broken in the end but this time that didn't happen with it s 84-78 win over towson state tuesday night at the towson center the brown and white captured the 1988 east coast conference tourna ment championship and with it an automatic berth into the ncaa division i basketball tournament a.k.a the big dance but what looked early on like it was going to be easy pickings for the brown and white turned out to be another close game for the 4,271 on hand a not-so silent minority making the trek from bethlehem as the game wasn't decided until the last few minutes but lehigh certainly took command at the opening tap exposing to espn's national audience it's two best features both of whom are commonplace to people who follow lehigh basketball b&w photo by pam lott after
