lehigh university brown and white lm-n0.45 bethlehem pa tuesday april 19 1983 215 861-41x1 business students request rescheduled finals by teresa kilcullen j letter describing the coming finals nedule as unacceptable and request ijachange was signed by juniors in the allege of business and economics and psented to registrar james wagner it week lie letter explained the four core arses for juniors in the business col ipare having their finals in the span of ihours management 269 and econom ic are thurs may 19 at 9 a.m and 1 j respectively and finance 225 and larketing 211 are fri may 20 at 9 a.m i lp.m respectively the university college of business t economics recommends that jun rbusiness students take economics 229 and management 269 together and that finance 225 and marketing 211 also be taken together thus it is highly proba ble that at least two if not more of these courses will be taken together in consid eration of this fact the present finals schedule is inexcusable and unaccept ble to expect students to perform to the best of their ability under these condi tions is absurd the letter reads the letter was submitted to the brown and whit and appears on page 7 eighty signatures were obtained from students who have at least two of the four exams said pete bayer 84 author of the letter i feel that this is an issue that needs to be addressed he said it's something that i feel strongly about that shouldn't occur we are here to learn a schedule like this is definitely detrimen tal to performing to our highest capabilities i'm not trying to be a radical bayer continued i understand there are cer tain restraints in scheduling and that the registrar cannot perform miracles but this is an unjustified group of exams i think we have a legitimate cause for concern wagner explained that once the finals schedule is published it is difficult to change because there are students that make airline reservations upon looking into the problem of the four business core courses being sche duled together wagner said it was found that there are only five students that have all four exams and that it is possible for these people to petition for make up however he stated that having two exams back-to-back is not considered out of line it's not an ideal situation but it faces everyone even three exams in a^two-day period is not considered out of line wagner said when the finals period was only eight days long there were evening exams and then students having three finals in a 24-hour time span would get an automatic make-up in one of the courses wagner explained however when the final period was expanded to 12 days and evening exams for undergraduate stu dents were eliminated there no longer forum oks sorority move reactions to plan favorable by michele levin hopeful we proposal opening saucon married students smags apart -
