the fourteen female parts an filled by women members of th lehigh dramatic workshop anc members of the lehigh dames lehigh students are filling th twenty-one male parts scenery i being designed and held weekday four o'clock at drown hall form was inaugurated in 1928 be fore that time members of the band wore brown sweaters white trous ers and a cap called a baker's cap band plays monday the first public appearance of the band this summer will be next monday at 4:00 p m when it will play for military drill in taylor field weather permitting at pres ent the band is preparing for the coming football season the band will play at the uni versity of conn football game oct 26 at stores conn the trip being the first long one since the 1942 yale game the band will also play at the lafayette game at eas ton at present the university band includes about sixty members all men interested in playing in the band are requested to contact joe goth delta sigma lehigh university band ordered one hundred new brown and white uniforms july 22 for the coming football season announced joe goth arts june 47 student di rector of the university band colonel p l sadler professor of military science and tactics was instrumental in obtaining the new design delivery of the new uniforms is expected around october 1 they will be the first new type that le high has had since the present uni the trousers will be brown with a double white stripe down each side the coats will be brown with white epaulets white trimmings on the four pockets and two white stripes on each sleeve a white shield with a brown gothic l will be on the right shoulder the military type cap will be brown with a white visor white braid and a white chin strap debators will vie for prize plans for * williams prize com petitions in debating and public speaking have been completed and judging from the number of inquiries being made by interes ted students a record turnout is expected for both contests regis ration for the debating contest will take place tomorrow evening thursday july 25 and registra tion for the speaking contest will be on friday evening july 26 both meetings will be held in room 410 packard lab at 7:30 p m many inquiries received paul schwab e e june 47 chairman of the speaking contest stated that he was being besieged by men seeking further informa tion about the contests in view of the large cash prizes being offered this is not difficult to understand participants will be registered and assigned to groups for the pre liminary eliminations which are scheduled for an early date therefore all men intending to complete should be present on the preview nights scheduled all un dergraduates are eligible for the debating contest and all freshmen juniors and seniors are eligible for the public speaking prizes freshman contest separate the speaking competition for freshmen will be run independent ly so that the less experienced men will not be handicapped the amount of work required of con testants has been reduced to a minimum and the contest dates have been arranged to prevent any conflict with examination sched ules this is the most attractive contest and the most and his aggregation while later in the evening couples clustered around the mike and harmonized ballads the waring way saturday afternoon prior to the dance the entire crew swarmed out vol liii — no 31 left to right cam conaway sigma chi and jane beckel dick seals beta theta pi and mrs seals ruth dudley and don cot ter phi delta theta to schmoyer's barn in allentown where a picnic-party and a soft ball game were held under the watchful eye of chaperone fay bart bartlett all the lads had their dates up to their respective fraternities for supper saturday night and dinner sunday after noon organized by 3 chairmen the success of the gala weekend can be attributed to the efficient organizing abilities of committee chairmen cam conaway sigma chi don cotter phi delta theta and dick seals will accommo date a total of 120 male students each of the buildings will have 20 rooms each to house two students detailed plans for construction are now being completed by litzen berger's staff work to take 90 days approval of the site was granted early this week when litzenberger conferred with officials of the na tional housing agency of the fed eral public housing authority in new york city the buildings will be erected on the site of the old tennis courts between sigma nu and delta upsilon fraternity hous es each of the buildings as ap proved by the national housing agency will be newcomen engines had operated together the other film was prepared and thomas t holme it showed the studies made on truck components tudies made on truck components at the mack motor plant in allen town which resulted in a consid erable saving in truck assembly time also discussed at the meeting were plans for an outing later in the summer town men to hold picnic and dance in response to requests which have been received by town council another picnic and outing will be held this saturday july 27 at 1:30 p m gene sowers chairman of the entertainment committee has announced that all
