the mustard and cheese drama society's third night at the improv attract ed 60 students to the black box theater m zoellner arts center thursday for some spontaneous acting graduate student patrick campbell 97 host and creator of the event welcomed the audience and explained the evening's format i'm going to randomly call up 2 to 4 people from the audience at a time campbell said those remaining m the audience will propose a situation then those on the floor are to act it out campbell said once the actors got into an interesting position any member of the audience could yell freeze and then replace the actor of his/her choice some scenarios included a dating game with guests monica lewinsky chewbacca and mr miagi from the movie the karate kid and an interplay among the world's see improv page 6 four worst gynecologists other topics such as abnormal hair growth and window washing were portrayed by stu dents playing a homosexual professional wrestler and baby spice of the spice girls props included tennis balls a shaggy brown wig a supersoaker squirt gun a plas tic pumpkin and wooden blocks participants received oreo cookies as awards for stellar performances the majority of the audience was hesitant to participate at first which is normal according to campbell usually it's hard to get up there at first but then it gets easier campbell said we had a core group of people who just jumped up right away and got crazy then other people realized it's fun and that it isn't so bad to get up there he said miesha brodsky 00 who has attended all previous nights at the improv was alcohol awareness week and president clinton's current situation the news used to be scary what with them telling you about mad cows disease but since the president's gotten involved i even tape the news he said the audience played a big part m the show engaging m active dialogue with chappelle as he explained the difference between a real mother and a joke mother scott mcnulty 99 co-chair of university productions was surprised at the amount of interaction between the audi ence and chappelle i thought it would be funny but i did n't expect this level of audience participa tion mcnulty
