yarnall was graduated aims and procedure of asme stu dr yarnall who received the honorary degree of doctor of en gineering at lehigh's commence ment in 1942 is well known not only as a mechanical engineer but also as a great humanitarian hav ing received the asme hoover medal in 1941 ernest hartford executive as sistant secretary of the organiza tion also in bethlehem will speak to the lehigh men explaining the for an hour preceding the meeting lehigh university's col lection of engine models will be on display in the mechanical en gineering department and will include three new models never before exhibited lehigh's new gage laboratory will also be open for inspection the meeting will be preceded by a dinner in lamberton hall for anyone who wishes to attend this will take place at week the students at le high university went to the polls and elected clarence i pearsall arts f'47 chairman of the five man committee on classes in one of the heaviest elections in sem esters jake as mr pearsall is pop ularly known on campus is a vet eran of the african and sicilian campaigns in this war and was decorated with the purple heart for wounds received while serv ing in the infantry at lehigh he has excelled as an end on the football squad and as a first baseman on the baseball team he is also an officer of the sigma phi epsilon fraternity elected also to serve with jake pearsall on mustard and cheese club dedi cates its efforts when it will put a bell for adano on thursday jan 31 and friday feb 1 in broughal high school at 8:40 p m just what problems are our arm ies of occupation facing a bell for adano written first in novel form by john hersey and adapted for the stage by paul osborne comes to realistic grips with the trenchant theme of the civil affairs detachments policing of the captured town of adano in sicily many have been the bitter praising comments pro and con regarding this play but john hersey wrote well of what he saw and discovered in his experiences with the civilian detachments whose job it was to make the peace richard macadams as major joppolo and allen goodman as captain purvis lead the excellent supporting cast in the final pre parations opposite macadams ann root plays the leading fem inine part scenery under the su pervision of howard ockleman will be a worthy setting for such a fine play in charge of costumes will be roger tove while robert ochs is supervising properties tickets for students at thirty five cents and fifty cents accord ing to seymour glatzer are sell ing well the friday night reser vations are works he entered the em ploy of stokes and smith co where he remained from 1907 to 1912 in 1912 he became vice-pres ident and general manager of the nelson valve co of philadelphia holding these posts until 1918 in 1912 he organized the yar nall-waring company which man nufactures power plant specialties and became its director and pres ident he also serves as director and vice-president of the james g biddle co following world war i dr yarnall became a member of the commission in europe which had charge of feeding the german children during the latter part of its existence he served as chairman and had his headquar ters in berlin in 1924 he was sent to europe again this time by the american friends service com pany and the general allen com mittee later in 1938 he served as as
