to see things as a second year student should murphey was upset when she was told she could not host hancy because of her opinions expressed m the brown and white she called hancy to apologize but journalism class media ethics and law but last week the office of admissions taught murphey that the constitution's protections do not extend to the lehigh campus or her writings m the brown and white murphey's lesson came when kirn brower associate director of admis sions told murphey her services as an overnight host were no longer needed m light of a column she wrote five days before murphey was set to host kristen hancy a fresh man at rider university as part of admissions overnight host program murphey wrote a brown and white column saying she was uncertain about what she would tell her pro spective student about lehigh admissions gave murphey a new lesson m freedom of speech when brower called murphey on march 24 the day her column was pub lished and pulled her from the as signment alpha theta sororities met to discuss whether alpha phi should be allowed to host a spring formal by the panhellenic judiciary board during an appeal decision a sorority files an appeal to the pjb offered to handle the case on a pro bono basis morganelli said tuesday he is contemplat ing an appeal of hogan s order m state supreme court monahan who has been reviewing the records of the henry case said tuesday that first assistant public defender dwight danser will also work on the case attorneys from the resource center which aided henry m filing his appeal for a stay said josoph henry who was scheduled to be executed by lethal injection on april 16 for the rape and murder of fellow lehigh student jeanne clery m april 1986 was granted a stay of execution tuesday the 29-year-old newark native was sched u led to die after his death warrant was signed by pennsylvania gov tom ridge more than a month ago northampton county judge james hogan granted henry's stay of execution until aug 16 hogan also appointed chief public de fender brian monahan to represent henry granted stays of execution to allow convicted murderers to pursue an initial post-conviction appeal with the aid of the attorney henry cannot receive effective and mean ingful assistance of counsel ... under the pres ence of an execution date approximately three weeks from the time counsel appears m the case hogan said he also said it is clear that until the death warrant is signed the full spectrum of appeals will not even be considered to overturn the stay resource center at torneys say the prosecution would need to show not only that it is contrary to the law but that it was also an abuse of the judge's discre tion - a contention very difficult to prove they will aid the local attorneys hogan before
