lence the shirts are very graphic in telling the story of each person's experience one shirt shows bloody gun shot holes and says 7 wounds that took your life broke our hearts kirn edelen 95 decorated a shirt on behalf of the office of multicultural affairs edelen said the shirts allow people to associate a name with an act which makes domestic violence a more serious problem when you see something like this edelen said the english department is downsizing its faculty by offering an early retirement package to those who are 58 years and older as outlined in the lehigh plan for the university the university implemented the early retirement plan approximately a year ago to reduce the number of both faculty and staff members in all departments a five-year-old girl ashley m was beaten for 29 hours until she died a white t-shirt hangs in her memory in grace lounge in the university center which says no more tears no more pain no more violence this shirt is displayed as part of the clothesline project from wednesday oct 26 to today to raise awareness and honor victims of domestic violence no one deserves to live in fear it is not right for anyone to live in fear kathy calabrese director of the women's center said no one has the right to hurt another person the shirts are decorated by students faculty and staff at lehigh who have been victims themselves or know someone who is to him last may to speak with lehigh students we felt we had some sense he would be receptive to an invitation barsness said we were thinking about distinguished people to invite to campus and we thought maybe we could get him to extend his stay quayle decided to accept the in vitation to become more involved with his son's university i'm a big supporter of lehigh because my son goes here monday making him the executive-in-residence barsness tried to organize events to give quayle the opportunity to interact with different students quayle spoke and answered ques tions in professor of economics ri chard aronson's federal public fi nance class i felt the interaction with classes in the two areas of the universities arts and sciences and business would be really nice barsness said he then attended a luncheon with lacocca scholars in the university center asking the students questions about the program and about voting lacocca scholar susan gardner 95 said the main premise of the lacocca scholar program was to be competitive on the national level as well as on the lehigh level she thought quayle was an appropriate person to attend the luncheon be cause he was the head of the council on competitiveness a non-partisan education institution dealing with shirts displayed in memory of victims english department gives early retirement plan to reduce faculty by erin fiato news
