christmas-saucon hall is in shambles now students hope that the benefits of the ramps to the handicapped will make current problems with construction worth while in the long run it does look pretty bad and it is a little annoying when you're running late to class but in a week or two it will be finished and it will help a lot of people jared horowitz 95 said most students are willing to cope with the minor inconvenience so the building can be made accessible for everyone being that the construction is for a good cause the slight inconvenience is minimal alexandra salas 97 said anyway it will be beneficial and it is nice to know that lehigh is taking a step to accommodate the handicapped most of the faculty who work in christmas saucon are aware of the reason for the current construction but are not sure that il is enough judy arroyo coordinator of the mathematics department said it is a good idea to make the building handicapped accessible but the only problem is that the building does not have an elevator so the first floor is the only place they would have access to christmas-saucon hall is currently under construction to make the building accessible for the handicapped the steps leading to the building are being replaced by small slopes in order to enable the handicapped to enter christmas-saucon the main reason for this is to make career services available to everyone the actual idea of the project was thought of about a month ago gary falasca director of the physical plant of facilities services said the repairs did not begin until the evening of last thursday though falasca believes the construction should be completed by the middle of next week but delays are probable due to the rainy weather caution ropes blocking the steps leading to the doorway have been hung in front of christ mas-saucon to warn people of the construc tion in order for students and faculty to enter the building they must walk around the ropes and onto a wooden slope that leads up to the front entrance the area from the top of the steps to the wooden walkway has been tempo baw photo by david j baker wooden ramps mark the beginning of construction at christmas-saucon hall wlvr's beastie boys concert plan cancelled new director seeks to improve women's studies program by michelle de mooy assistant news editor by jessica norris news writer other colleges in the area she also wants to make sure women's studies courses are offered regularly to students one of the goals as director is to make sure we have access to the resources to make sure our courses are offered more often dillon said i am concerned about the affects of downsizing of the school and what the affect will have on our capabili ties on courses we want to offer and need to offer no specific plans to book the band the beastie boys management has not commented directly but marshall said it is still uncertain whether or not the band is touring at all this year brian lucy 96
