our house is fairly well balanced especially in academics lambda chi alpha fraternity re ceived a total of 16 associate mem bers this year making it second in fraternity rush statistics though we didn't have many problems with academic ineiigibiiity because our house is fairly well bal anced malcolm gould 94 president of delta tau delta corbett dabbs 95 rush chairman was pleased overall with lambda chi's rush this year he noted the fraternity lost two serious associate members and a number of possible freshmen from their house due to the academic restrictions robeson declined to comment when asked what fraternities had the lowest pledge classes sorority rush seemingly did not face similar problems seven of eight sororities filled their quotas of 24 people according to most sorority spokeswomen there were very few problems with freshmen and sopho more women reaching the 2.0 gpa requirement sororities deal mainly with fill ing up the quotas in their respective houses all sororities must have 72 people living in the house not in cluding pledges if this total is not filled sororities then begin continu ous open bidding or a process in which houses extend bids past bid day because of the relative success of this year s sorority rush few houses are participating in continuous open bidding because most have reached their totals this year's rush in fact dropped only slightly in overall numbers the amount of men rushing last year was 306 while this year it was 298 de spite the delays weather and com plaints sorority rush was also fairly consistent with 262 rushees danielle jenko 95 president of kappa alpha thcta sorority said we thinkthe 2.0 gpa is pretty fair jenko said they filled their quota and that the educational requirements did not hurt rush stephanie money than was allotted in the origi nal budget according to richard benner the assistant director of facilities ser vices 112,370 was assigned to ward the snow removal budget this amount had already been exceeded before the latest storm hit lehigh has not yet received all the bills from previous snow re moval but benner estimates that the final tally will be well in excess of the original budget where the money to make up the difference will come from is not yet known gary falasca facilities services director estimated that the snow re moval project was probably in ex cess of the budget by 100,000 until the total bill for snow re moval is known the administration cannot begin to search the budget for extra money benner said it will not be known until the budget is com pleted in june where the funds will be taken from the snow on campus is removed by two private contractors allen kunsman roofing and siding inc and valley excavating and paving inc although facilities services has remember how one retired lehigh professor put it so simply when you come to the end of the i don't do saturdays was the attitude of a majority of lehigh students and faculty after the uni versity scheduled two makeup days when classes were missed because of snowfall the first makeup on saturday feb 12 and the second on sunday march 6 professors were given the op tion of whether or not they would teach on the weekend a memo ftomprovost alpense said profes sors should not hold class unless they really felt it was necessary it also stated that professors should not schedule quizzes or
