carolyn fowler of clark university in atlanta said the image and expression of black literature has been distorted we need to hear the same kind of traditional language that can be heard from the s financial aid policy has evolved over the last few years making life easier for financial aid students but it is not given to eligible students without some strings at tached there are some academic requirements that must be met for aid to be granted espe cially for the classes of 93 and 94 according to william stanford director of financial aid the class of 95 was the first to benefit from lehigh s guarantee to meet students established financial needs students enrolled in the class of 95 or later need a 2.0 grade point average each semester to renew their aid students from the classes of 93 and 94 need a 2.4 while those prior to the class of 91 needed a 2.6 each semester even for underclassmen who have lower requirements lehigh requires more of its financial aid students than federal and state agencies federal and state aid require a student to earn at least a 1.6 first semester 1.7 second semester 1.8 sophomore year and a 2.0 cumulative gpa for their junior and senior years federal and state aid also mandates students carry at least 1 2 credits each semester federal and state aid is mostly loans stanford said compared with university aid which is mostly scholarships mike evans 93 said the higher stan dards for a university-aided student create a useful pressure because it makes you do your work he said the 2.0 standard is good for freshmen and sophomores but is kind of low for juniors and seniors evans a me chanical engineering major said people are donating their money for students to learn not to achieve a 2.0 that is a waste of scholarship money kirn compton 94 said the require ment should be more lenient pressure is good because it makes you work but some times it's too much compton an industrial engineering major thought
