to 1 1 p.m on weekdays only weekend hours will be considered if there is a large demand purchases can be made with cash or with the south mountain gold card only the store carries all the necessities of a college student anything from sweatshirts to candy and chips to condoms can be found toothpaste medicines soda and coffee are also available the one complaint so far is that cigarettes are not sold there however the store is in the process of acquiring a permit so it may sell cigarettes the store had a busy first day with a total of more than 900 worth of items sold by the second day shelves were already empty and awaiting the next supply of chips and pretzels joan stark currently the only full-time employee of the store feels prices are com parable to wawa's although she agrees with complaints that 90 cents is a bit much for a small bottle of soda the store is much more conveniently located for the students it's right on cam americans phone votes on abortion see abortion page a8 current election a 1-900 phone number for pro-choice voters and a separate number for pro-life voters were established charging 1 per call individuals under the age of 18 were permitted to through the department of government's philadel phia internship program then she found out about lehigh's off-campus acceptance poli cies and became frustrated and discour aged she has therefore put her plans on hold until her senior year faust's predicament is typical of many lehigh students who have to wade through administrative red tape in order to study in off-campus programs the process includes making sure a particular program is univer sity-approved arrangingforcreditand grade transfers figuring how much money to pay and enduring a scrupulous screening pro cess it is tiresome and because of complex budget issues confusing i feel discouraged because the policy is taking advantage of students and their money faust said myparents are against it and it turns out that i will have to take summer classes because i won't fill some requirements according to bruce cornell registrar in order for a lehigh student to study off campus and retain student status he must have lehigh residency this is to ensure that lehigh tuition and fees are allocated properly to allow students to bring their credits and grades back with them correll says there are two types of off campus programs in agreement with le high transfer policy both of which are under the same tuition policy one includes those in full agreement with lehigh these programs have a pre arranged understanding for the complete transfer of grades and credits to lehigh the philadelphia internship program is in this category the second type involves provisionally approved programs where only the transfer of credits is guaranteed in three years these programs will be either accepted into full university agreement or dropped from availability faust is primarily upset with lehigh's position on tuition for off-campus study as it stands now university policy is to charge full lehigh tuition 8,350 per se mester for any off-campus program re gardless if it is done through lehigh or not this often requires a student to pay more than their program charges an individual program often runs close to 3,000 less than lehigh tuition this blanket policy is the first national referendum on abortion took place this week allowing american's to cast their vote concerning this national controversy a new independent organization called the national referen dum devised a telephone voting system confronting the abortion question in which citizens from any of the 50 states were encour aged to participate alexander galvin organization director of the national refer endum said in a recent press release the lawn tuesday the truck exhibit was sponsored by the office of alcohol and other drugs in honor of national . collegiate alcohol awareness week rathbone food store opens pus stark said the six sororities located directly across from the store are definitely not complaining otherlocations forthe store were consid ered such as the university center but rathbone hall was decided upon as the best location the store plans to add frozen food and hot dogs to its list of items the store operators welcome suggestions currently the store is fairly small and will probably remain so as there is not a lot of space for expansion nevertheless it is stocked with all kinds of cures to the munchies when that sudden attack hits approaching the goal of cultural diversity pageßl
