signed by 500 seniors calling for an outdoor graduation this year the administration developed individual recogni tion ceremonies for the three academic colleges on the saturday before sunday's commencement ac tivities according to a faculty memo from lehigh president peter likins james harper director of community relations said the administration was brainstorming ways to handle the graduation conflict for the class of 1 993 when the petition was presented to likins the administration was discussing the idea for separate ceremonies for future graduations but decided to implement the individual ceremonies this year to appease the disgruntled seniors the actual format for the ceremonies is still being decided and the deans of each of the academic colleges are expected to plan the events harper said senior class secretary alayna kassan said the pre-graduation ceremonies will enable the gradu ates to participate in a more personal ceremony in which their names will be read and all family and friends can attend while the actual commencement exercises will remain the same everything that's been done on sunday in the past will still be done she said we re not taking anything away from sunday just adding to it harper said he feels that there will be problems with the new ceremonies in light of the haste with which they were planned but that they will provide a
