interfraternity council rush approximately 200 prebids have been given out this is equal to last year's level at this time he said more freshmen have gone to open houses and more freshmen seem to be inter ested in rush we gave out 500 rush handbooks at a picnic in august and there weren't enough to go around baker said freshmen appear to be rushing fewer houses this year that is instead of rushing five or six houses and receiving four to five prebids the freshmen are only rushing three to four houses and receiving one to two prebids baker said he felt this was better because it gave the brothers a better chance to get to kmow the freshmen he also said he felt that it would make post rush more popular especially with houses that did not fill t he brown and white 215 758-4181 bethlehem pennsylvania tuesday october 11 1968 lehigh university vol.loo no.lo new stadium and thanked everyone for their support he said he never stood in front of a crowd of that size but he enjoyed himself very much goodman said he especially enjoyed the wave orchestrated by john morris 91 at the end of the second quarter it was thrilling to stand in front of all the lehigh students he said after goodman's speech a large ribbon extending 100 yards was unraveled from one end zone to the other the ribbon in giant block letters said thanks murray likins goodm an and rust cut the ribbon to a drum roll and the dedication ceremony was concluded the goal of the ribbon cutting cer emony according to jim harper director of community relations was to have as many people as possible witness the dedication despite the cold weather more than 11,000 specta tors were on hand to see the ceremony goodman said the stadium was per see murray page 4 b&w photo by lee havey murray h goodman addresses cuts ribbon the murray h goodman stadium was officially dedicated saturday at halftime of the lehigh-colgate foot ball game the stadium turned out better than i had ever expected and i am thrilled to be a part of it said goodman class of 4b who donated about 5 million for construction of the complex the dedication ceremony began aft er the colgate and lehigh bands play ed lehigh's band the marching 97 remained on the field while 50 stu dents wearing thanks murray t shirts walked onto the field followed by goodman university president pe ter likins and chairman of the goodm an stadium campaign c keith rust likins and rust offered words of welcome to the large lehigh crowd both men thanked goodman for his generous donation goodman then addressed the crowd he expressed his delight in the seem to be causing as much of a problem as was originally anticipated according to tim stenger 90 rush chairman of pi kappa alpha fratcrn ity they have given out 14 prebids and have had nine acceptances this is about where we were last year and we should be able to fill the house by bid day i don't thi nk that we will participate in post rush the only way we will is if we don't fill the house stenger said he also agreed freshmen were only rushing a few houses but this gave the brothers a better chance to meet them on-campus houses also seem to be coping fairly well with all the changes phi gamma delta fraternity has given out 14 prebids and has had nine acceptances according to rush chairman howie butterman 90 but terman said overall rush has gone well but it is going in waves with a group of people accepting their bids and then a dry spell and then another group accepting their bids we probably won't give out post bids just because we expect to fill the house by bid day other houses may have to post rush but i really don't know butterman said at chi psi fraternity brian hayduk 90 said rush was going extremely well despite the shortened time dur ing which to meet people he didn't have any complaints with the new rush rules but he did feel the time was just too short our open house was really big and since the rush period is shorter we don't have as much time to meet people it's also harder with football we have had to concentrate all of our activities between monday and wed nesday and we've probably cut a lot of really nice guys randomly whom we just didn't get the chance to meet hayduk said hayduk also said post rush will help a lot of houses who just weren't able to fill up but that chi psi probably wouldn't use it the final verdict on this year's rush won't be available until after the post rush period but until then everyone will just have to wait baker said we haven't had any major complaints and that makes my job easier we just have to wait and see how everything goes i hope that everyone who goes through rush is happy with their choice there is a house for everyone their quota houses also appear to be complying with the dry rush rules and the other new rules which are in effect many houses have planned activities to encourage the rushees to meet the brothers these activities range from the traditional monday night football and baseball playoff functions to the the more non-traditional activities such as bowling casino nights and comedians i hope that everyone who goes through rush is happy with their choice there is a
