administration are gearing up for the sell-out crowd to converge on taylor stadium tomorrow by increasing security and using additional screening inside taylor stadium for alcohol consumption as well as outside the gates for intoxicated students assistant dean of students michael boyd said lehigh has become a well-oiled mach ine and can handle the weekend with some regularity there will be few differences this year compared to previous years we'll have a sell-out crowd with more police than a regular game seventy city police and 11 campus police will be m and outside of the stadium boyd said bethlehem police will respond to tailgating on city streets but will not otherwise regulate alcohol other restrictions will also be m effect including the prohibition of alcohol consump tion m the stadium ushers staff and police will be screening heavily m the stadium associate dean of students mark erickson said no one will be permitted to re-enter the stadium after leaving there will be heavy screening at the gates of the stadium this year to prevent anyone who appears intoxicated from entering boyd said the more sober the students are the smaller the chance is of anyone getting hurt the most important concern arc fights breaking out during the game and once the game is over boyd said police will do what they can to prevent even the smallest skirmish from arising we are concerned about fights breaking out between the stadium and buses once the game is over boyd said lafayette buses will be well out of the path of lehigh students once out of the stadium lafayette students will go one way to their buses and lehigh students will go the other way hill access is limited brothers were asked to park their cars on lower campus to allow parking for alumni special passes will allow alumni access onto the hill erickson said the lehigh-lafayette student committee is asking students to play it smart in the past lehigh students have shown a cooperative nature m preventing situations notice by teresa kent brown and white news editor linderman library was closed wednesday at 4 p.m for ventilation of fumes and will remain closed until further notice according to berry richards director of libraries the closing was necessitated by the need to ventilate the building more intensively m an effort to rid the building of fumes caused by the application of a sealant to the rotunda more than a week ago the library has been closed m the evenings but according to richards the cool temperature of the building has impeded ventilation richards said linderman will be heated to temperatures exceeding 100 degrees to be sure the substance is removed apparently the sealant does not evaporate as quickly m cool air richards said all the staff will be working m e.w fairchild martindale library for the time being she declined to offer any reason for the more intense treatment besides the fact that the ventilation of the library needs to be continued social policy changes social policy chan ges were explained to fraternity and sorority representatives at wednes day's interfraternity council meeting because it will the last game m taylor stadium and social behavior expectations rise each year this is by far the most worrisome lafayette weekend for me lehigh president peter likins said to begin the meeting how this weekend goes matters to what follows he warned the ifc representatives behave m a way that keeps people safe i think we're going to lose a few blades of grass at the end of the game he admitted but said to let the athletes finish before going for include trustees faculty administration national fraternities parents and society m general the proposal eliminates all but thursday pubnights it also requires that thursday functions be closed and by personal invitation only not to exceed the number of hosts plus two guests each distribution of alcohol must end at 1:30 a.m duncan said she had been determin ed to eliminate weeknight pubnight
