initiated dr serfass speaks theodore peters jr ch e 44x was elected president of tau beta pi national engineering hon orary at a formal initiation ban quet wednesday night in the ho tel bethlehem nineteen high ranking engineers were initiated into the society before the ban quet dr earl j serfass assistant professor of analytical chemistry spoke at the banquet on gas warfare today just previously dr serfass had been taken into tau beta pi as an alumni mem ber in recognition of his attain ments while a member of the le high faculty other officers for the coming term are claude j kurtz ch e 44x vice president david f cox e phys 44x recording sec retary e lyster frost met e 44x corresponding secretary john l gretz met e 44x treas urer and earle w wallick e e 44 cataloger dr serfass was elected as a faculty adviser for a four-year term to replace cyril d jensen whose term expires this year men inducted at the initiation held at 6 p m in packard labora tory are class of 43 graduate class day scheduled for 22nd following the traditional class day exercises on saturday may 22 199 men will be candidates for degrees at commencement on may 24 this statement was issued by the registrar's office recently the number of candidates this year numbers a little more than half of the total graduates of last may when 335 students received their degrees the week-end will start on saturday afternoon at 3 p m when brown & white elects officers new officers were named for the brown and white but no heads were chosen for the bach elor and epitome at a meet ing of the board of publications yesterday afternoon editor-in chief of the campus newspaper for the coming term in theodore pe ttrs jr ch e 44x while an thony c fortosis arts 44 is bus iness manager peters has progressed through brown and white editorial posi tions of reporter deskman news editor makeup editor and news manager he has been on the staff every semester since he came to lehigh fortosis has also served during each of his terms at school as solicitor copy supervisor and local advertising manager status of publications for the future is uncertain the brown and white will appear this sum mer probably on a weekly basis but the bachelor may discontinue unless a large group of army trainees are available to support a magazine after the present epitome ap pears sometime this summer there will probably be no more such large yearbooks for the du ration hence no editor was named for next year a strong possibility is some form of class book con taining information on the gradu ates and class history officers for such a publication would be desig nated next fall by the board of publications class day exercises will be held the ceremony will include the traditional pipe breaking class gift class prophecy and ivy ora tion on saturday night the sen iors will be able to attend their last lehigh dance before they re ceive their degrees the hotel bethlehem has been picked as the spot for
