university will be increased 200 bringing the total to 3,050 next year for both graduate and un dergraduate students the new rate adopted by the board of trustees is coupled with a 50 increase m board rate there will be no increase m room rental rates in a letter to be mailed to parents elmer w glick university treasurer and vice president said the university must take the above steps to maintain both its stable fiscal posture and high quality performance as you probably know annual tuition at lehigh and other private colleges covers only about two-thirds of the actual cost of educating your on economic matters will speak on the topic the world's new raw materials boom how to mobilize america's agri power to take advantage of it during a conference on commodity futures to be held at the university friday and saturday the public is invited to hear janeway speak friday at 8 p.m m packard auditorium nine other prominent authorities from the business financial and academic worlds will speak on various aspects of this subject during the two-day conference dr leon krouse associate professor of finance who is coordinating the con ference defines a commodity as an agricultural or responsibility to report upperclass drug offenses campbell said residence halls counselors do not have responsibility for discipline m upperclass houses if he wishes he may report to me the officers of upperclass houses are responsible for carrying out discipline campbell reminded the committee that any student or gryphon who wished could by-pass his office and directly file a disciplinary charge with the university in such cases campbell said he could ex pedite the handling of the charge but could do nothing to stop it according to the fma letter the association is currently plagued by three problems a 40 day delay m receiving monthly billing statements a conflict concerning the size of the management fee to be levied on all fraternities and the b&w photo by horsting campbell on drugs clarence campbell dean of residence talked about possible discipline for drug usage st the residence subcommittee meeting strohmeyer delta phi brothers quarrel over fishkin editorial john strohmeyer editor of the bethlehem globe times met strong criticism and questioning wednesday on his paper's editorial concerning the mitch fishkin death the winner of the 1972 pulitzer prize for editorial writing spoke at a waterhole series lecture on the relation of the press and the presidents throughout history fishkin a pledge of delta phi fraternity was killed after jumping from a car while being taken to saucon valley on sept 13 all delta phi members were exonerated from any criminal charges in the question-answer period im mediately following his speech stroh v meyer was hit with a barrage of questions on the editorial which implied that dif ferent versions of the fishkin accident were given to the first policeman on the scene and later investigators the editorial also accused the delta phi brothers of criminal responsibility and participation m a cover-up of the evidence you fantasized and drew your own conclusions screamed a delta ph brother questioning strohmeyer eleven delta phi brothers were present at the lecture strohmeyer apparently upset by the onslaught of questioning retorted do you want to share the podium he said the purpose of the editorial was to criticize northampton county dist atty charles spaziani's investigation into the accident the district attorney owed us a full definition between hazing and horseplay strohmeyer said he added that the incident deserved more than a one day investigation strohmeyer further criticized the delta phi brotherhood saying you didn't help us get the facts holding a copy of the controversial editorial a delta phi brother responded our instructions were not to reveal any information until the district attorney's investigation was finished barbara solt coordinator of university volunteer services and emcee brought a halt to the questioning about the editorial she said afterward that the topic was a personal concern and questions on a broader scope of journalism should have been asked allowing the questioning to ib & w photo by vlahakesi john strohmeyer tenure group will choose interviewers the forum tenure subcommittee will choose 12 teams each composed of one junior faculty member and one student to interview department chairmen on tenure questions nominations for the teams were taken tuesday at an informal meeting of the committee which is composed primarily of tenured senior professors the ultimate decision as to who will be chosen will be made by frank hook professor of english and chairman of the tenure subcommittee hook said that junior members of the faculty will be chosen because they will be unfamiliar with the tenure procedure and it will be a learning experience for them the major criterion for choosing the interviewers will be variety said hook he added that no one with a terminal contract or who is a controversial figure will be picked furthermore faculty members will only interview chairmen outside their department the members presently on the com
