arcadia arrived at no definite decision concerning the sugges tion but the proposal will be re considered at the next meeting this month and will be voted upon then mr edwards complete list of recommendations for stronger co operation between the student body and the alumni is as fol lows 1 advocate reinauguration of the college meeting to be held once a month 2 at least one prominent alum nus to attend each college meeting and be prepared to de liver a brief but well prepared address 3 a working liaison between the alumni bulletin and the brown and white student article to appear in each issue of the bul letin and an alumni column to appear at least twice per month in the brown and white 4 a select number of alumni to receive the brown and white regularly so as to catch the stu dent pulse and to be prepared to communicate with that per iodical as inspiration may prompt him to do so 5 first second and third prizes to be awarded students on their contributions to bulletin during the year 6 encourage undergraduates to invite alumni to speak at their banquets 7 undergraduates particularly juniors to be urged to attend meetings of the alumni asso ciation 8 work out a plan without de day whereby all students will receive the bulletin 9 short news items pertaining to alumni accomplishments to appear in the brown and white periodically 10 student guests to appear at featured alumni club meetings by courtesy of the alumni as sociation or of the partciular club 11 within the next several weeks alumni preferably board of directors to give dinner to recognized leaders of the under graduate body arcadia to pre sent a limited list for atten dance o military department apprehends culprits four bethlehem boys all un der 16 have confessed to the de struction of the military depart ment's obstacle course investigations were conducted which revealed the names of all boys known to be in the area a list was compiled and all the youths on the list were questioned the action to be taken against the culprits has not yet been de cided however a decision will be made in about two weeks interfraternity handbook is ready for distribution the interfraternity handbook will be ready the latter part of next week to be sent to the class of 1946 and students who entered in may and july the latter may secure their books at the admis sion's office it was announced by e walter edwards arts 43 editor of the 1942 handbook the if handbook will be ap proximately the same as last year but the cover design and frater nity page make-up has been changed there is also a display of six pictures showing fraternity life taking dramatic tips from director ji m nardin are the actors and actresses who will appear in the three student-written one-act pi ays saturday night seated beside nardin are joyce heller and june collins the others are left to right bruce staples jack kennedy helen redline ross vachon lou daze and sheldon zalkind lehigh university brown and white bethlehem pa wednesday august 5 1942 price — 5 cents band leader at if tickets may be obtained at the arcadia office or from any mem ber of the dance committee which includes edward j cavanaugh m e 43 chairman danal p ep stein bus 44 chandler h mc kaig ch e 43 charles m nor line met e 43 richard b pal mer arts 43 g whitney snyder arts 44 william c walker ch e 43 plans are being made for dec orations and for specialty numbers which will be announced next week the dance is to be held in grace hall all students will have an opportunity to purchase tickets at 2.20 per couple rogers is currently on tour hav ing spent two months at the rose land ballroom in new york dur ing the past year he has also ap peared at steel pier in atlantic city and several times at the em pire ballroom in allentown featuring his slide - trombone music dick rogers and his orches tra will play for the i f summer ball saturday august 22 from 10-2 p m the affair will be an informal one sponsored by the in terfraternity council rogers to play for if appeared at steel pier summer dance to be informal vol xlix-a no 10 lightning strikes chem building a lightning bolt caused an es timated damage of several hun dred dollars to the chemistry building at about 3:45 p m last wednesday during the violent thunder and lightning storm which caused damage throughout beth lehem and vicinity the damage was confined to one chimney which had a five foot sec tion ripped open the bolt ap parently entered one side of the chimney and left by the other and could be classified as a cold bolt as no fire resulted the most pe culiar factor of the incident is derived from the fact that it was this same chimney on the many chimnied building that was struck and damaged two years ago dur ing a similar storm according to andrew h litzenberger super intendent of buildings and grounds mr litzenberger also reports that work on the publications of fices in drown hall will begin on wednesday the job is expected to be completed this month at a cost of 1200 students have time for study ing meet the new football coach george hoban and his staff at the cyanide frosh pep rally tonight at 7:30 sharp in packard auditorium all stu dents are invited to attend and to greet the new men at this rally being held in honor of the class of 46 by order of dean congdon the meeting will be over at 8:15 so that meet coach hoban staff at cyanide frosh rally m & c togive three plays the first of two mustard and cheese summer productions will be three student-written one-act plays to be presented saturday night at 8:30 in drown hall audi torium the dramatics society is being assisted by the dramatic workshop in the productions the plays in order of presenta tion are a bench in the park by edwin h klein 42 fifty bucks by joseph f kemmer 43 and a family of fashion by hibbard gumpert 44 the first is a fan tasy of incidents in a new york park woven together by the char acter of a professional bum the second is a drama of tenement life and the third play is a social sat ire of contemporary and upper class life james nardin assistant in eng lish has directed the one -
