forum feels that a considerably greater amount of inquiry must be done before a law school is established at lehigh this will be the motion that pp&r presents to the full forum meeting monday the educational policy committee submitted a resolution endorsing the law school to president lewis on march 3 pp&r basically approves this resolution but asks three questions which it feels should be answered before a law school is approved the sub-committee says that a law school at lehigh cannot be based on an assumed need for more law schools this assumption stems from the lack of knowledge available with regard to both the number of lawyers and the number of law schools that will be needed in the future pp&r also disagrees with the education policy committee edpol that it cannot be assumed that the operation of the law school will necessarily be profitable to the university this was inferred from the financial figures given by edpol educational benefits of the law school should be compared with those of other programs currently established at lehigh says pp&r the committee feels that further study is needed in this regard therefore pp&r believes that a study should be alumni association and the development office the senior class is moving toelect alumni officers an open meeting will be held may 9 at 7:30 p.m in packard auditorium for the elections only those seniors attending the meeting will be able to vote the need to elect separate alumni of ficers stems from the fact that the class of 72 has no senior class cabinet tradi tionally class officers have continued to perform various functions after gradu ation however with the establishment of the forum and the dissolution of arcadia interest in class government waned the result was that elections were never held for class of 72 officers the efforts of a few dedicated students enabled the continuation of the senior class gift campaign an activity usually coordinated by the class cabinet it was feared however that without formal par ticipation by 72 graduates traditional alumni activities and fund raising might be ignored among these responsibilities are the organizing of class reunions selecting a class correspondent for the alumni bul letin managing funds collected by the senior class gift drive and determining its ultimate use upon maturation in 20 years and aiding the university in solicit ing contributions to the annual giving campaign class officers also serve as future general alumni officers and trustees initial concern over the lack of alumni officers was voiced by the development office's robert holcombe to two seniors who were working on the class gift campaign ollie foucek and rick koby however being late in the year it was decided that it was too late to have a formal election upon the initiative of koby and foucek a meeting was arranged between about 20 senior leaders and harry b ramsey 50 editor of the alumni bulletin it was decided that the hour was late for selecting officers and some action would have to be taken soon foucek agreed to coordinate efforts for an election the open meeting idee was selected because it was the easiest to implement in addition candidates were nominated for the three executive board positions president secretary and agent and four of the eight spots on a standing advisory committee additional . nominations will be accepted at the may 9 meeting those who are not elected as officers or to the committee on the first ballot will still be eligible for the final four spots on the standing committee the president will be responsible for coordinating all alumni activities his responsibilities include organizing of class reunions usually every five years supervising other officers manag ing any funds the class may obtain and acting as a liaison between the university the general alumni association and his class the secretary will be responsible for writing the class correspondent column in the alumni bulletin in addition he will try to remain informed as to the where abouts of the graduates in his class this is particularly important during the first five years after graduation when alumni tend to change address several times without such information it is possible that many alumni would lose contact with the university and their classmates lehigh might also lose potential sources of funds because alumni can't be located the agent will aid the university in the annual giving campaign this becomes more important after 20 years when alumni are no longer bound by senior class gift obligations and are more will ing and able to contribute the standing committee will advise the executive board and also aid in implementing the board's decisions following is a list of candidates president ollie
