land he explained that the university knew of bethlehem steel's intent to sell the land in august 1985 with plans to construct interstate 78 through saucon valley lehigh felt it was vital to the school's future to purchase the land and protect the university from possible detrimental development along 1-78 likins said the proposed sale also offered opportunities to double lehigh's size and connect the main and murray h goodman campuses he said likins described the homer complex buildings as grand imposing structures and said they will be used primarily for science and engineering
