educational policy voted wednes day afternoon to return the annual spring affair to its former status the emergency policy commit tee met at the direction of the faculty which had previously voted to o'neill play frosh to receive blanks literature this month enrollment limited dramatic workshop plans for 4 ah wilderness is set for mar 21 cyanide junior honorary activ ities society will assist 24 fresh men who enrolled late this semes ter to become acquainted with the university the society met last night in the sigma chi house and planned an organizational meeting of the new freshmen the date of the meeting and freshmen rules will be announced in the near future a list of the freshmen's names and addresses will be published to be used by the fraternities for rushing cynide unanimously agreed with arcadia in that group's opin ion that houseparty should return defense bonds in disfavor cyanide believes that it would be unwise for the profits of the jun ior prom to be invested in de fense savings bonds because the group feels that the profits will be the major source of funds for the rest of the year a great deal of money will be necessary for the publishing of the epitome in houseparty april 10 has been set as the night of the annual junior prom robert p whipple ch.e presi dent of the junior class is pre paring to present the usual peti tion for the affair to the dean of undergraduates and wilkes mc clave bus 42 president of ar cadia will confer with the dean as stated in the faculty commit tee's report arcadia acts arcadia's action last night was in accord with a previous motion which it had passed at its regular meeting on monday at this meet ing the body went on record as unanimously favoring the reestab lishment of houseparty six recommendations made by the 75 sophomores and up perclassmen following the pro gram students who take the course choose faculty members with whom they are acquainted to act as their advisers the student does outside reading recommend ed by his adviser and holds in formal discussions about his in tellectual problems receive no credits the student receives no credits for the course and he may drop it at any time there are no reg ular classes no fixed amount of work no grades and no examina tions the student is permitted to read on subjects in which he is interested if a student wishes to enroll in the course it is advised that he discuss the matter with the dean of undergraduates the dean of his curriculum or any member of the advisory council for general edu cation if a student's application for en rollment is accepted he is assign ed as an advisee to a faculty mem ber however he may change his adviser if there is one who could aid him better in his special field scientific tests which show a student's weak than it has been for several years according to a survey taken among the frater nities more couples are expected to dance to the music of harry james and will bradley this year than would have done so last year the survey shows that more than 475 fraternity men will at tend last year there were 435 fifteen fraternities indicated an increase in attendance while only nine had fewer members planning to come four fraternities will have attendances equal to last year's the ball will bring at least a temporary boom to nearby hotels hotel bethlehem reports that its accommodations for the weekend long have been filled in allen town hotel traylor and hotel americus have reservations for 100 dates 60 tickets for resale although 778 tickets have been issued according to ralph moss bus 42 president of the if council only about 60 tickets have been turned back to the ar cadia office in drown hall not more than 20 of the tickets return ed have been resold these are practically the same as last year's solution to the many problems which lehigh publications now face because of the accelerated program will be sought tuesday at a meeting of the board of pub lications dean wray h congdon chair man of the board who called the meeting for 4 10 p.m in his office said that he expects the meeting to be first of a series the problem he said is too big to solve at one sitting especially since develop ments throughout the semester will constantly change the picture routine affairs at the meeting will include the consideration of officers elected by the brown and white for the coming semester the election of a business manager for the paper and a study of the financial standing of all publica tions a bruce brown editor-in-chief of the epitome and ted scott business manager will attend the meeting to report on the arrange ments that have been made to publish the yearbook before grad uation a study of the financial and staff organization problems that face the publications because of the expected decline in enrollment is being made by kenneth k kost secretary to the board the cosmopolitan club elected four new officers and announced the names of six new house mem bers at a meeting astronomical club student will describe telescope information about the general education plan including enroll ment blanks will be sent to fresh men this month according to frank c becker chairman of the department of philosophy and gen eral education committeeman the general education plan is purely optional and only a limited number of freshmen will be per mitted to enroll at present there are over 75 sophomores and up perclassmen following the pro gram students who take the course choose faculty members with whom they are acquainted to act as their advisers the student does outside reading recommend ed by his adviser and holds in formal discussions about his in tellectual problems receive no credits the student receives no credits for the course and he may drop it at any time there are no reg ular classes no fixed amount of work no grades and no examina tions the student is permitted to read on subjects in which he is interested if a student wishes to enroll in the course it is advised that he discuss the matter with the dean of undergraduates the dean of his curriculum or any member of the advisory council for general edu cation if a student's application for en rollment is accepted he is assign ed as an advisee to a faculty mem ber however he may change his adviser if there is one who could aid him better in his special field scientific tests which show a student's weak than it has been for several years according to a survey taken among the frater nities more couples are expected to dance to the music of harry james and will bradley this year than would have done so last year the survey shows that more than 475 fraternity men will at tend last year there were 435 fifteen fraternities indicated an increase in attendance while only nine had fewer members planning
