second of a two-part series on lehigh security surveys conducted by the dean of students office in 1984 and the brown and white in march 1987 indicated that students safety awareness has increased drastically since the rape robbery and murder of jeanne clery last april the 1984 poll revealed that 14 percent of lehigh women were concerned about their personal safety on campus at night while the march survey put the figure at 72 percent but lehigh.'s administration has not changed its views on campus security vice president of student affairs marsha duncan said at a press conference after the incident this is a very safe campus most of the time it feels safe asked about possible future changes to im prove campus security duncan said lehigh has its own police force and that i don't know if it will change although police patrols were stepped up after the murder dean of students john smeaton said the day after clery's body was found the students are the best ones to rely on for residence security in a more recent interview he said generally i think this is a safe campus a campus police felony misdemeanor report released a month after the murder revealed that reported crimes since 1981 included one homicide eight rapes seven other sexual of fenses 47 assaults three robberies 169 burglaries and 41 cases of criminal trespassing a total of 267 such offenses a major weakness in lehigh lancaster county courthouse where jury selection is also being held the decision to use a jury from lancaster county was made to counterbalance the extensive pre-trial publicity in the lehigh valley that followed the incident last april a panel of 140 lancaster county residents were called from which the final 12 jurors will be chosen the morning call reported all of the potential jurors were white prompting farrell to request a location other than lancaster for jury selection farrell said blacks are systematically excluded from jury duties there franciosa ruled the selection process drawn from voter registration would not constitute a violation of henry's rights three jurors were chosen to serve in the trial from the twelve interviewed wednesday they were described as all male one 24-year-old construction worker a 46-year-old crane operator and a third whose name and age was unavailable county cour administrator aloysius marhefka said the selection of 12 jurors and two alternates will probably not be completed before the end of the week northampton county judge michael franciosa explained the nature of the case to all present noting the death penalty has been sought by the prosecution prospective jurors were also informed that if selected they would be sequestered for the duration of the estimated three-week trial randall couples wit humor in grace by kathy queen funniest skit in woody allen's movie everything you wanted to know about sex but were afraid to ask was about impotence and featured randall that subject is painful and that's why it's so funny randall quoted sigmund freud several times as he explained the psychological rationale behind humor it's something terrible that happened to someone else the audience tittered at a famous freudian joke that explained the relief element in humor a man said to his wife if one of us dies first i think i'll move to paris randall then talked about acting saying that marlon brando's definition of acting is pretending you are fine when you are not marlon brando was a great actor much better than me randall said acting however is not lying and pretending he explained acting is truth randall asked rhetorically have you ever had a once in a lifetime experience for instance i saw a man die in new york and it was horrifying the first thing i wanted to do was tell someone and when i did i felt myself reliving the entire episode that's acting randall said that acting wa around before language it migh first have been exhibited by the grunting groaning and waving arms of a caveman reliving the kill of a bear to his tribe members acting is a form of communication and is one of the most primitive ways of doing it randall opened the floor to questions after he said no i am not like felix the audience laughed and then randall said that jack klugman his co-star in the odd couple is like oscar madison his character one evening randall ex plained jack and i were on our way to a
