allowed on the hill friday and saturday nights the in terfraternity council decided tuesday campus police had previously presented to coordinator of greek affairs mike boyd two options they were willing to use to control the traffic flow the first option was to keep cars off the hill during certain hours on friday and saturday nights the other alternative was to allow on the hill only cars with sayre park stickers the sayre park sticker is a small sp which is mounted on the back of the rearview mirror so that the campus police can tell if the car is registered as it pulls up without having to stop the car until now sayre park stickers were only available to fraternity members who lived on the hill and were given out when a car was registered boyd explained that these stickers will now be available to any fraternity member who registers his car whether he lives in the house or off campus this includes the off-campus fraternities as well boyd added also any sorority member who registers her car will be given an sp sticker boyd commented that this way all members of the greek community will be allowed on the hill ifc president howard goldstein said that there are still some problems to iron out with the new traffic system several house presidents expressed concern that visitors to their houses will not be allowed up the hill boyd added that there will be special passes available for these situations in other ifc business boyd distributed a revised university definition of hazing from the dean of students office the new definition was written because of vagueness and in consistencies which exist in current definitions boyd cited the university code of conduct as an example see hazing page 8 frosh lose labor day in new fall 88 calendar bycaraturkowsky the forum academic calendar subcommittee voted wednesday to amend the academic calendar for fall of 1988 and hold classes on labor day as a result final exams will end one day earlier the decision will affect this year's freshman class an amendment was also proposed for the spring calendar of 1987 it was proposed that pacing break in february be eliminated and one more day be added to spring break as a result students wouldn't have to travel back to school on easter sunday and would return on march 27 rather than march 26 the amendment and the new calendar were passed unanimously chaplain hugh flesher who co-chairs the sub committee introduced the calendar for 1987-88 calendars for the fall of 1987 and spring of 1988 were passed unanimously as one issue as a result of the labor day amendment there will be one day and a weekend for reading consultation and study period and exams would end on dec 22 rather than dec 23 it's like trading mondays said flesher several people opposed this amendment including one faculty member who stated it's a traditional holiday and we've always had it he claimed that people will com plain if it is eliminated one student expressing his point of view said labor day is a chance to go home and get all the things i forgot the first time 1 came to school another student said that one day of classes was a small sacrifice to pay in order to get out earlier for the holidays the amendment was voted on and passed with only two opposing votes the amended calendar for fall of 1988 was then voted on and passed unanimously victim berkowitz tells of berkowitz then 12 was taken to auschwitz with his mother and twin sister after telling his mother that he didn't think the place was kosher his mother began screaming pleas to the guards to save her twins seemenqele'spages there was a knock at the door his father opened the door to several soldiers one of whom said five minutes to pack as his father frantically tried to decide what to pack the soldier added where you're going you won't need anything everything my mother had dreamt for and everything my father had hoped for vanished he said his family was then cattled onto a train headed for the yassing con centration camp i remember stepping off the train and seeing a river a river that turned red then i saw the human beings people were then lumped together and soldiers opened fire on
