over union sta tion early this morning to give the football team one of the biggest and most spirited send off rallies in years approximately half of lehigh's men — estimates ranged from 700 to 1000 — began descending south mountain and crossing from fra ternities on delaware avenue at 7 d m and for one half hour kept up a continuous roar of cheers and songs that ceased only after the team's train disappeared around the bend toward philadelphia twenty-six members of the squad accompanied by coaches and managers left bethlehem on the 7:40 they wil larrive at char lottesville va where lehigh will clash with the university of vir ginia tomorrow by 4 25 o'clock this afternoon the rally culminated a period of spirit generation which began on monday under direction of the ar cadia rally committee fraternities dormitories and town group sec tions were contacted by the com mittee personally and through the living group heads and by last night practically every unit in the university had promised represen tation everybody came and upperclassmen did not leave it to the freshmen to do all the work men arrived this morn ing bright and early from north ernmost theta xi and southern most theta delta chi and all points in between with many groups reporting 100 per cent at tendance most fraternities pushed breakfast time ahead to before 7 o'clock a taylor house bugler sounded reveille in the lafayette athletic head joseph bell lafayette alumni sec retary and robert herrick lehigh alumni representative were pres ent after the bands have formed in the center of the field alumni of both institutions who are now in the service will march into posi tion after which they will be hon ored in a brief address all spec tators will join in a patriotic song to complete the ceremony lehigh men from the army navy and marine corps will be guests of the university and will be seated in a special section for the game a public address sys tem will carry the program to the crowd special wires will carry it to the lehigh alumni club meet ings broadcast facilities are ex pected to give wider coverage in the local area the lehigh and lafayette bands are now arranging a special forma tion for
