once to get the ballot and then again to return it after completion when the ballot counting was done results were triple-checked based on all the information we possibly could have i think the voting process of the election was completely clean she said freshman class by ronald qreqory rich rosier collected 82 votes to defeat joseph bower in a runoff for freshman class president tuesday bower tallied 58 votes the results of the first election held april 7 left both candidates tied with 73 votes rosier said he was both elated and relieved with the outcome i'm just happy that it is all over secretary will be janice lee 88 with 293 votes she defeated ellen stone 87 and diana thall 88 with 150 and 217 votes respectively lisa hakim 87 will be the new treasurer for receiving 362 votes her opponent mark davis 88 received 293 votes ' carolyn bromley 88 was elected concert chairman ' over robert jaramillo 87 and owen tarab 88 the vice-chairman will be joseph long 88 „ placement center two-part series on the career planning and placement center although the career planning and placement center is getting a face lift next year which should make the christmas-saucon office a nicer place to visit some students remain skeptical some seniors particularly those in the arts college claim the career center isn't doing enough to attract companies to lehigh as senior lori soderlind put it they're going to make it a more comfortable place for arts students to sit and not get jobs eugene seeloff the director of career planning and placement disagrees he said the career center is doing all it can to attract businesses seeloff claims arts students are not receiving as many interviews or job offers as their business and engineering counterparts for two reasons the first industries that typically hire liberal arts students simply don't recruit on college campuses the second liberal arts students aren't doing enough to market themselves for the business world a great mound of evidence seems to prove that seeloff is right student criticism could very well come from a lack of un derstanding of the career center and what its role is in the job search seeloff maintains that the center's purpose is not to simply find jobs for seniors we are not an employment agency that finds you a job and then takes a percentage of your pay check for doing it according to seeloff the placement center should be looked at as a classroom in which students can learn job-hunting strategies and pick up information about various careers it's not our place to force students into interviews and force them to get jobs he said we're only here to help them in their job search seeloff said his office has a dual purpose as a placement center it coordinates employer visits schedules interviews and gives students job leads as a career planning center it provides students with up-to-date literature on careers gives them in terviewing tips and even critiques their resumes according to seeloff the placement center tries to create a supportive at mosphere for job hunters but it is not pur job to make sure every senior has a job there are no guarantees nor is it the placements
