lehigh university brown and white vol 8 - no 3 bethlehem pa friday october 10 1969 866-0331 shaw's saint joan on stage in broughal high tonight lehigh's interfaith council will present the alpih-omega players la george bernard shav/s drama saint joan at 8:15 p.m tonight in the broughal junior high school auditorium the play te open to the public the shaw classic is the stirring story of joan of arc s faith and inspiration and it vividly depicts her multifaceted lite from a simple peasant girl to great heights ending with her final death at the ateke in rouen shaw poena the question was joan of arc truly a saint or was she a constant thorn in the side of tee church aad the state both of whom ware forced to consign her to be burned at the stake to regain their own authority critics have commended tee alpha omega players for an inspirational and compelling picture of the moving epis odes in the life of this young woman who changed the history of france this adaptation is patterned to today's chall enges the actors in the principajl roles are cheryl horne jane hancock john han cock and james mullen lead female vocalist cheryl horne has appeared in productions of ** marat/sade three penny opera and the world premiere of ** the assasin . the recipient of the balfour dramatics award and the lufkln art scholarship jane hancock has had roles in the classical drama eiectra and hlppoll tus her husband john hancock has worked with such notables as anna maria alberghettl and dame judith anderson james mullen participated in french com edies at trinity university and performed in dallas theatre center's production of macbeth tickets are now on sals si the students activities desk and will be sold at the door on the night of the performance student and faculty admission is 1.00 75 cents with activities card and general admission is 1.50 cheryl horme jimmy mullen ifc votes moratorium free choice by bill chastain the inter fraternity council unanimously approved a policy statement tuesday urging university faculty members to respect individual students decisions to participate tn the vietnam moratorium this wednesday ifc also voted to donate 100 to arca dia's freshman social life committee to help defray the expenses of the arte festival held oct 4 a motion to petition the student lite subcommittee on rushing to provide for an open rush at the earliest possible date this year was defeated by a 16-8 vote the adopted policy statement reads we the members of the interfraternity council encourage faculty members to respect individual students decision to take part in the moratorium to be held oct 15 1969 the motion to petition for an early open rush waa made by ifc president jack kime who stressed that he neither suppor ted nor opposed the action kime explained that he had received numerous reports of dirty rushing and was presenting the proposal so that the subject could be thoroughly discussed before any fraternity was caught violating the present rules which call for a closed rush until nov 1 each of ifcs standing committees made a report outlining intended projects for the coming year among the projects discussed were an analysis of scholastic deficiencies the creation of a weekly ifc news column in the brown and white and the creation of a planning and goals committee in an attempt to determine the reasons for the low all-fraternity averager the scholarship committee will compute aver ages by curriculum and class for each chapter the committee will also discuss raising tha ifc probationary average john graham chairman of the public relations committee reported that he will seek to start an ifc news column in the b&w not only to increase communica tion among ipc members but bet ween ifc and the university as well according to kime the planning and development committee la being created • to evaluate the fraternity system "■.■- ww ? dlte-v dk » a k.t rw»_!t q . ibtew rnoto oy uu i e-.k j university cheerleader dong gilbert welcomes naw members te the squad they are left to right sharon gustufson cindy snlmond hidden wendy reddling nancy wilson cathy raid shelly katzeff and pattie giordano nil of cedar crest college tha seven chosen by gilbert and steven bach head cheerleader from over 40 applicants will perform for the first time at the rutgers game this saturday sua related story page 7 junior senior election results the results of the junior and sen ior class elections held during the past three days are as follows class of 7i john scott president dan smith vice-president marvin levine secretary steve malherson treasurer class op 70 mike morris president bill taylor vice-president steve ernst treasurer the position of the secretary of the class of 70 was not filled be cause there was no candidate
