cheek their fi nancial records after a busy night in the cleaning and pressing business brown and white banquet to be apr 4 at trainers by graham f thompson approximately 175 students have been placed on cut probation since the beginning of the semester for promiscuous cutting at the end of last semester the dean's office for the past two weeks has been crowded with students attempting to remedy the bombshells that befell them in the morning mail they have been placed on probation with a maxi mum of ten more cuts before being liable to suspension from the uni versity for the remainder of the semester the dean's purpose is to crack down on the non-dean's list stu dents who persistently absented themselves from classes at the end of last semester with the thought in mind that they could not be put on probation in the new cut regulations pass ed by the faculty last summer there is a sentence reading any student who appears to be gener ally neglecting his academic work by persistently absenting himself from the regular academic exercis es of the university will be placed on cut probation this gives the dean this unforeseen power to punish last semester's cutters the fact that these students are allowed ten more cuts before sus pension is not in the rules but is the dean's method of handling the situation a strong objection of those receiving the letter is that a copy was sent home to the family who won't understand the dean's answer to the home letter is that it is the only way to put teeth into the warning according to the dean the un fortunate gentlemen who have been placed on pro under this sys tem are allowed only ten cuts for the entire semester regardless of when the notice reaches them so if you get one of those letters and have already taken five unexcused cuts this semester you can take only five more before being liable to suspension along with the letter that the dean sends is a personal chart on which the student may mark his own unexcused absences and tar diness so he will not forget the dean asks that in case the offender is called later to his office that he bring along his record of absences failure to follow these instruc tions explicitely according to the dean will be interpreted as just another indication of the student's inattention to his work non-con formity to university regulations and negligence of his own best in terests the cheek their fi nancial records after a busy night in the cleaning and pressing business brown and white banquet to be apr 4 at trainers by graham f thompson approximately 175 students have been placed on cut probation since the beginning of the semester for promiscuous cutting at the end of last semester the dean's office for the past two weeks has been crowded with students attempting to remedy the bombshells that befell them in the morning mail they have been placed on probation with a maxi mum of ten more cuts before being liable to suspension from the uni versity for the remainder of the semester the dean's purpose is to crack down on the non-dean's list stu dents who persistently absented themselves from classes at the end of last semester with the thought in mind that they could not be put on probation in the new cut regulations pass ed by the faculty last summer there is a sentence reading any student who appears to be gener ally neglecting his academic work by persistently absenting himself from the regular academic exercis es of the university will be placed on cut probation this gives the dean this unforeseen power to punish last semester's cutters the fact that these students are allowed ten more cuts before sus pension is not in the rules but is the dean's method of handling the situation a strong objection of those receiving the letter is that a copy was sent home to the family who won't understand the dean's answer to the home letter is that it is the only way to put teeth into the warning according to the dean the un fortunate gentlemen who have been placed on pro under this sys tem are allowed only ten cuts for the entire semester regardless of when the notice reaches them so if you get one of those letters and have already taken five unexcused cuts this semester you can take only five more before being liable to suspension along with the letter that the dean sends is a personal chart on which the student may mark his own unexcused absences and tar diness so he will not forget the dean asks that in case the offender is called later to his office that he bring along his record of absences failure to follow these instruc tions explicitely according to the dean will be interpreted as just another indication of the student's inattention to his work non-con formity to university regulations and negligence of his own best in terests the annual brown and white banquet for the entire staff will be held friday evening april 4 at trainers the fifth annual issue of the clown and gripe satiri cal paper taking the staff for a ride will be
