10 lehigh clubs to hear glee club orchestra on radio program 24 research fellowships available applications due by march 1 various studies offered broadcast set for feb 7 george e sokolsky bertrand russell russell taught at ucla liberal russell to oppose sokolsky in broughal auditorium tonight liberalism vs conservatism to be debated price — five cents congdon defends lehigh bachelor dean congdon was applauded by the group at the close of his talk the faculty adopted two new rules with respect to final exam inations to go into effect next sem ester four hour examinations will be universi ties for the past year he served as visiting professor of mathematics at the university of california at los angeles studied at trinity college russell studied mathematics and philosophy at trinity college cam bridge and accepted a post as a fellow of the college russell a pacifist resigned his post at cam bridge because of the world war his interest turned to social ques tions after the charter was signed therefore the alumni program is planned to co incide as nearly as possible with that date bringing the assembled club members a story of lehigh's founding growth and the impor tance of alumni support of the university throughout the 75 years the program will be an hour in length — from 9 to 10 p m fri day feb 7 — and will be sent by leased wires to the various cities where the lehigh clubs are gath ering only through use of special broadcast wires such as those em ployed by the national chains in sending national programs from city to city for broadcast purposes can such a musical program be presented climax on founder's day the program is only one in a number that will be presented throughout this diamond anniver sary year — climaxed by a uni versity program to be held robert hurley who en tered lehigh in 1915 and who was elected governor of connecticut on the democratic ticket last novem ber is covered by the bulletin article another feature of the current bulletin dealing with modern military strategy as it is influenced by geology is described by dr bradford willard head of the de partment of geology the title of dr willard's article is ground work for conquest governor hurley 19 came to lehigh in 1915 his collegiate ca reer was cut short in 1917 when he enlisted in the navy at the close of the war he played profes sional and semi-pro football until he joined his father in the con struction and engineering business in 1935 he entered the public spotlight as a w p a supervisor followed by successive advance ments to assistant state adminis trator
