previous issues of the brown and white a story on the broadcasting of lehigh news from station wcba-wsan in allentown per haps you glanced at the story and said idly some more brown and white foolishness the broadcasting takes place every tuesday and friday from 4to 4 15 p m and is done each time by a different staff mem ber among them are the editor the news manager the gentleman responsible for the omission of the news plug on your fraternity the editorial manager — oh lots of em the general procedure followed the night before the broadcast takes place is something like this the day's victim rolls in the brown and white room about 8 o'clock in the evening muttering vaguely he scans the sports groaning whisks through the news with a vacant stare and even glances at the ads with a jaundiced eye then he sits down and tries to write a script the average typewritten page contains 200 words more or less generally less with obliterations since you talk at the rate of about 160 words per minute and have slightly over 14 minutes at your disposal — for there are no breaks no blessed intervals for advertis ing — it is easily calculated that al lowing for a margin of safety you need 2400 words or 12 pages of script well the main story of the issue should be good for two pages of course it never is pad it put in continuity pause weigh your words . . . then the sports quote the main story verbatim give a vivid description a blow-by-blow account of everything that hap pened saturday from the dawg episode to editorial reactions hea ven forbid then you stick in perhaps you have noticed buried somewhere on the back page of previous issues of the brown and white a story on the broadcasting of lehigh news from station wcba-wsan in allentown per haps you glanced at the story and said idly some more brown and white foolishness the broadcasting takes place every tuesday and friday from 4to 4 15 p m and is done each time by a different staff mem ber among them are the editor the news manager the gentleman responsible for the omission of the news plug on your fraternity the editorial manager — oh lots of em the general procedure followed the night before the broadcast takes place is something like this the day's victim rolls in the brown and white room about 8 o'clock in the evening muttering vaguely he scans the sports groaning whisks through the news with a vacant stare and even glances at the ads with a jaundiced eye then he sits down and tries to write a script the average typewritten page contains 200 words more or less generally less with obliterations since you talk at the rate of about 160 words per minute and have slightly over 14 minutes at your disposal — for there are no breaks no blessed intervals for advertis ing — it is easily calculated that al lowing for a margin of safety you need 2400 words or 12 pages of script well the main story of the issue should be good for two pages of course it never is pad it put in continuity pause weigh your words . . . then the sports quote the main story verbatim give a vivid description a blow-by-blow account of everything that hap pened saturday from the dawg episode to editorial
