of the finance and calendar committee 18 requesting thai the class give ml refunds to those who bought tickets to the original concert but did not attend the mixer lindenbaum confirmed that the class of 70 will give the refunds at some future date the af&lr was originally planned to have been a concert with chubby checkers the orlons and the coasters since only 400 tickets had been sold for the concert by last thuraday m format or the oldies weekend was chanced so the class would incur as little financial loss as possible the class attempted to cancel the three groups the orlons and chubby checkers cancelled for 300 and $ 800 respectively however the coasters refused to cancel lor jmms than their fun 1,500 price according to jeff lindenbaum co-chairman of the concert com mittee the concert would prob»bly have been scratched if the coasters had demanded less for cancelling to play along with the coasters the smack a campus group and the select rons were hired in the attempt to mcke the concert a mixer cedar crest cen tenary moravian kutztown beaver st luke's a 1 lent own school ofnursing muhlenberg and lafayette were contacted the affair was attended by only 250 to 300 responded poorly to invitations lindenbaum explained that it was very hard to round up girls for the mixer because the idea of having a mixer was not decided upon until thursday night those attending was contributed to the campus last friday by an organization of fine arts students calling themselves spice student painters involved in creating environment the purpose of the paint-out according to organiser gregg files was creating spontaneous works befitting the celebration of the versa equinox 1 the idea for the artwork evolved after a number of lehigh freshmen had used the panels for provost and vice president of the university inaugurated the day's efforts by painting a series of mathematical symbols in blue and red his accomplishments complemented by those of dr george conard of in a poll conducted by the class of 70 council that asked university students do you favor coeducation at lehigh 1 * 70 per cent of the 2,055 men contacted answered yes twenty-seven percent of the students were not in favor of coeducation and three per cent were undecided this contradicts a poll taken by the brown and white in november in which 1,653 students voted 49 per cent against coeducation 40 per cent in favor of it and 11 per cent were undecided working over the past several weeks the 70 council polled residence halls members as they came through the dinner line at the uc cafeteria and conducted dinner time polls in 30 of the university's 31 fraternities of the 1,184 residence hall men contacted 900 76 per cent voted in favor of coeducation 213 18 per cent voted against it and 71 6 per cent were unde cided in the fraternities 871 men voted 541 62 per cent in favor 314 36 per cent against and ie 2 per cent undecided in the brown and white poll students voted against coeducation 396 to 328 in residence halls and 414 to 337 in fraternities in a poll taken and released in october by the local chapter of the american association of university professors aaup 76.6 per c«nt of the faculty favored coeducation twenty per cent opposed it and three per cent were undecided in the same poll 20 administration members voted 60 par cent for coeds 38 per cent opposed and 5 per cent undecided student government heads in favor of proposed fee by bill chastain the 10 student fee proposed at last week's arcadia meeting is th subject of considerable debate within both arcadia and the student body bruce berztn arcadia secretary arid chairman of the finance and calendar committee proposed the fee as a means of improvi ng the cultural aspects of university fe as conceived by berxln the fee money would be used to provide more and better concerts more lect ures films and other cultural and social affairs berzinvs proposal met some strongly divided opinion in
