draft of a constitution for the class of 69 following approval at the committee's friday meet ing the constitution must be approved by two-thirds of the sophomore class cabinet and two-thirds of the sophomore class rlc wilson 69 who is leading a protest over the makeup of the sophomore class cabinet says that the petitions circulated among the sophomore are almost unanimous for the proposed changes the petitions ask for four changes , that representa tives from each living group are to be elected by their living group that there be no more than 60 members of the class cabinet that each living group shall have one and only one voting representa tive to the class cabinet and that members at large be appointed by the president but may not have a vote and may not serve as committee chairmen according to james findley 67 member of the student life committee none of these demands are met in the constitution approved on friday members of the cabinet will not be elected but appointed as in the past the members of the cabinet will number 64 including the four officers each living section will have a representative on the cabinet assuming at least one person from a section has applied if no one from a section makes blues singer skip james will appear saturday in the uni versity's first folk festival along with others who sing and play western gospel and folk-rock music james a leading blues singer in the 30 s was recently rediscovered hp rules announced houseparty plans were presented to representatives of the upperclass living groups by dean william l quay and a representative of the houseparty judiciary committee thursday afternoon the schedule of events calls for the arrival of dates at 4 p.m on friday nov 4 followed by living group dinners at 6 p.m the concert at grace hall featuring the four tops mary wells and the shlrells will start at 8:30 p.m university rules concerning all university events-will be in effect regarding living group parties which will follow the concert satruday's activities will start with breakfast at 10 a.m the football game against davidson will start at 1:30 p.m afternoon parties may not start until 5 p.m all persons who are not members or dates of members must leave saturday night parties at 2 a.m sunday all parties will close at 4 a.m living groups will reopen at 10 a.m for break fast but no parties may be held sunday afternoon dates must leave by 4 p.m in addition to the schedule information concerning chaperons housing of dates pinkerton guards and driving and parking regulations was given party petitions with social chaperons and sponsors must be submitted to the office of the dean of student life by oct 25 the university will provide resident chaperons who will be present at all times in all residences used as women's dormitories dates must be registered by 4 p.m nov 2 fraternity dates must be registered with mrs luella flickinger of the student activities office residence hall dates must be registered with mrs evelyn eberman's office certain fraternity houses and residence halls will be set aside faculty to present readings in poetry by robert benner " the first poetry quartet of lehlgh university will present readings in poetry at 8 p.m tomorrow in the osbourne room of the university center the quartet dr frank s hook dr david m greene dr ernest n dilworth and dr john f vickrey are faculty members of the department of english the readings will be open to the public the four formed a group several years ago at the request of the faculty women's club who realized the need for informal reading of poetry the quartet took its name from " the first piano quartet which used to perform on the radio since its formation the group has made appearances at state and national conferences two years ago they appeared at the reading con ference of lehigh*s school of education last year the quartet was the featured attraction at the post banquet for the pennsylvania council of teachers at pennsylvania state university last summer the national de fense education committee fin anced an institute for teachers of poetry at bloomsburg state college at which the group's reading was the main program the quartet does not present reading dialogue as their name might indicate rather each poem is read by one man thereby giving each reader the opportun ity to deliver his recital in his own style and taste dr hook and dr dilworth have favored quiet and lyrical poetry in the past dr vickrey and dr greene have exhibited poems of lively style in their programs which us ually last about one hour the group stresses entertainment of their audience rather than ca tering to a particular segment of poetic admirers in a typical recital the quartet may read anything from an anony mous poem by a ten-year-old to selected works of john milton the first poetry quartet consisting of from i tor dr john f vickery or frank s hook dr david m greene and dr ernest n di i worth looks over a possible selection for their poetry reading program at 8:00 p.m tomorrow in the osborne room of the u.c lost city ramblers join 1st folk festival the first lehigh folk festival will be held at £ p.m saturday in grace hall during the festival bluegrass rbvthm and blues gospel ballads folk-rock traditional blues and western music will be featured the breezy ridge boys the new lost city ramblers mary rhodes the munchkins skip james glen ohrlln and other groups will appear afternoon workshops with lecture-demonstrations will be.heldonthe plaza of the centennial houses at 2 p.m saturday tickets for the work shop will be 1 concert tickets will be 2 the new lost city ramblers specialize in music of the 20s and 30s the trio lias performed at about two dozen colleges and has made 14 albums they feature several types of music including whjte mountain string band negro blues and old - fashioned jazz the group's three members are mike seeger a brother of pete seeger who has made sev eral recordings on his own john cohen a journalist and photo grapher for esquire magazine who has appeared in several film documentaries and tracy schwartz a newcomer to the group james was one of the leading traditional blues singers in the 1030's in 1964 he was redis covered in tunica miss and was introduced to audiences at new port chicago and philadelphia festivals his songs are some of the
