time lt will go into effect next year if it is rejected or an insufficient number of students vote then lt will be resubmitted to the students during the class elections according to arcadia treasurer d'arey rober 67 the purpose of the fund was stated to be the reduction of losses for all arcadia-approved all-campus events sponsored by a student organization it will be used to subsidize worthwhile projects such as speakers lectures and films which would not be otherwise possible within an organization budget also it will provide additional funds for student-run organizations which are not faculty sponsored since the student activities committee will no longer be responsible for backs topping the class of 68 in rejecting the plan believed that an organization should be willing to risk a loss in sponsoring an activity which provides superior entertainment for the university additional funds for the fund cabinet accepts ' 69 constitution the class of 69 cabinet voted tuesday night to accept its class constitution as approved by the student activities committee debate on the constitution was limited to 40 minutes after which the constitution passed as written with 45 aye votes three more than the two-thirds needed for passage the debate centered on proposed changes presented to the cabinet by rlc wilson the major changes in his proposals were to have the members of the cabinet elected by their representatives instead of having them appointed by the cabinet's executive board wilson pointed out that he was speaking for the nearly 300 people who had signed the petition which he presented to the cabinet at its last meeting those opposing the constitution felt that the election of representatives to the cabinet would result in better communications between lt and members of the class and more equal representation on the cabinet they also felt that the executive board of the cabinet could not do as good a job in selecting members to represent livirfg groups as the members of the living groups themselves those favoring the constitution felt that the word representation in the preamble did not necessarily imply equal representation and that those not interested enough in the cabinet to file an application should not be permitted to serve on the cabinet â– casey cogut president of the class said i would like nothing better than one representative from each living group on the cabinet bob engl replied that if cogut and other members of the cabinet felt this way then a provision should be written into the constitution senior sophomore win
