lehigh university brown and white vol 78 - no 42 bethlehem pa - friday april 14 1967 866-0331 author attacks warren report by donald palmer william garrison will prove beyond any doubt that there was a conspiracy to kill president kennedy . . . the nation will be deeply shocked at his findings mark lane author of " rush to judgement said tuesday night in grace hall in his speech about the warren commission's report lane added that if garrison's trial comes about as planned the country will know why for three years the government has deliberately concealed the facts behind kennedy's assassination his satiric fact by-fact indictment of the warren commission sys tematically refuted the crucial areas of evidence which the commission distorted concerning the number of assassins lane said that 58 of the 90 witnesses questioned about the origin of the shots testified that the shots were fired from a grassy knoll in front of and to the right of the presidential limousine also seven railroad employees and an ex-sheriff stationed on a railroad bridge directly above kennedy's route said they saw " puffs of white smoke on the grassy knoll immediately after the shots ware fired the x-rays taken of kennedy wounds would have given positive evidence as to the origin of the shots but lane said no one on the entire commission staff ever looked at them in fact the x-rays are not available and have never been available to anyone outside the gov ernment the commission accepted as evidence three drawings of the x-rays made by an artist who had never seen them cmdr j j humes a navy autopsy physician told the commission that he had burned his original notes concerning the nature of the wounds lane also said that three expert marksmen shooting at large stationary targets from a vantage point closer than oswald's failed to score one hit tn 18 shots a marine corps officer who knew oswald's shooting ability said that he was a rather poor shot lane went to 15 publishers in this country to try to get rush to judgement published but he was unsuccessful until he went to eng land after it was released over there lane went to rhine hart holt and winston to again try to have distributed birth control information to thousands of women lafayette newspaper may stop publication by glenn airgood the lafayette the campus newspaper of lafayette college published today what may be the last issue of " the oldest college newspaper in pennsylvania today's one-page issue consists of one news story an editorial a feature and a poem all of which deal with the possible " death of the paper chuck freedman editor of the " lafayette has cited several reasons for the inability of the publication to sustain itself freed man laid most of the blame on poor business management last semester the business staff of the paper neglected to issue any bills for subscriptions or advertisements freedman said that if the paper continues to publish on the cur rent weekly four-to-eight page basis operating expenses will exceed the budget by some 3,000 during the first semester the paper attempted to publish semi weekly thc financial losses incurred from this coupled with in creasing printing costs and poor business management has left the " lafayette a little over 600 ln debt as of today earlier this semester freedman attempted to warn the lafayette administration of the impending disaster no acti was taken how ever until the fact was brought to the attention of dr k roald bergethon lafayette college president bergethon met with freedman earlier this week to discuss the financial status of the paper freedman said bergethon was very vague about committing himself or the administration ln support of the lafayette he suggested freedman submit a proposal requesting financial support to the student council freedman said he has done this but has received little response freedman said that if the administration will not offer 50-50 financial support of the paper
