com pensation committee to be elected by the faculty the fcc was established with a two fold objective thornton said to ascer tain the gap between lehigh faculty salaries and salaries of other schools comparable to lehigh and to deter mine how that gap could best be closed the first objective was achieved by comparing lehigh's faculty compensa tion to that of 14 institutions that we felt by mary frances donely lehigh faculty compensation is now on a par with the university's 14 peer insti tutions and as a result faculty morale has improved considerably according to administration members according to richard barsness dean of the college of business and econom ics the increase in faculty compensation has been a very positive step in terms of faculty morale john hunt dean of the college of arts and science agreed stat ing there has been a noticeable increase in faculty morale since the increases have taken place discontent among many of the faculty was one of the reasons for the
