bethlehem township preliminary hear ing on these charges has been set for monday santana also faces charges in connec tion with the april 7 robbery of a bethle hem woman at moravian college's south campus the hearing which was origi nally scheduled for monday was post poned when two juveniles also facing charges in the case could not bepresent santana was arrested april 8 while driving simowitz's car taken into cus tody with him was a 17-year-old and a 13-year-old were implicated with the april 7 robbery santana was arraigned on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery robbery theft and receiving see bethlehem page 6 by pete trumbore a hearing date has not yet been set for a lawsuit filed against the university last august in northampton county court by former residence area coordinator joan mulhern she is seeking damages in excess of 100,000 on a total of five separ ate counts she said mulhern resigned her post last year and now attends law school in houston texas according to allentown lawyer wil liam malkames , mulhern s attorney the suit stems from a reorganization in the dean of students office last year the complaint states that the position of assistant dean of students for resi dence life the post presently held by mark erickson was originally awarded to mulhern she felt the promotion had been awarded to her malkames said the suit states that the promotion was announced publicly and confirmed by the administration she was then informed that she was not going to get the position he said this is the grounds for the suit in a telephone interview mulhern con firmed her attorney's comments and said she is extremely optimistic about the outcome she declined to make any further comment on the case malkames said that the case could be settled out of court but that possibility exists in every case of this type filed anywhere 1 8-year-old awaits trial in kidnapping of student by pete trumbore an 18-year-old bethlehem man accused of abducting university student robert simowitz on april 6 was held over for trial monday on charges of kid napping terroristic threats assault false imprisonment and unlawful restraint district magistrate john gombosi ruled that the state had a prima facie case against sergio santana of 616 ont ario st santana is in northampton county prison in lieu of 75,000 bail charges of robbery two counts of theft receiving stolen property reckless endangerment and terroristic threats were filed against santana monday by repair service better however problems persist by michael melley -
