said that patrols around campus have been stepped up and more officers will be on duty 39-37 faculty vote allows student to graduate bydaveleight news editor a decision by the standing of students sos committee denying an air force rotc senior from graduating with less than the required 120 credits was overturned in a 39-37 vote at the faculty meeting monday the student elizabeth campbell appealed to sos feb 22 to accept six additional credits of rotc toward graduation claiming her adviser had told her that all 12 of her rotc credits would be counted toward graduation according to dean of students john smeaton in a letter to sos her ad viser acknowledged this however * only six rotc credits can be counted toward graduation requirements according to col charles simons head of the air force rotc program campbell had been told this throughout her college career it is also stated in the college catalog on march 1 sos denied her appeal her father john campbell in a letter to president peter likins asked the faculty as a whole to reconsider the case stating that not only would his daughter be forced to attend summer school but that by graduating after her class she would be placed at the end of the rotc promotion list simons said he didn't know what would happen to her regarding her assignment in that case industrial engineering chairman george kane said it was a question of the integrity of the degree and that campbell had admitted to associate registrar claire biser that she knew the rules but philosophy chairman ralph lindgren said the integrity of the institution was
