basketball team showed great pride and earned the respect of many people across the country after bowing out of the ncaa tournament to the top-seeded georgetown hoy as 68-43 national attention was focused on the team not to mention the university m general and although the publicity wasn't all that great before the game it allowed some people to hear of lehigh for the first time and it put south mountain on the map expert analysts criticized the selection process for allowing the engineers to appear in the tournament with a losing record however the brown and white rode the crest of this publicity into the game and were out to prove their critics wrong they weren't given any chance to win against the defending national champions facing a spread of as many as 33 points the game did not begin well for lehigh the closest they came was 4-2 after mike an drolewicz hit a 17-foot jumper to get the engineers on the board several fans tried to throw toilet paper onto the court but bring your conscience to work nader recommended turn your perception from the seller to the buyer side nader said adding that consumer protection was the neglected consitituency m the shaping of the political economy the emphasis today is on capital investment labor and inventories instead of the impact on the consumer nader said that students can revolutionize the country by learning m a more concrete way what they should be learning students today learn memorization regurgitation and vegetation which is designed to crush the imagination and creativity he said we discuss techniques and narrow analysis but life doesn't fit into those neat academic pigeon holes multiple choice and standardized tests are given a widely exagerrated significance nader continued they do not report the most important aspects of your personality which spell success m life such as creativity imagination idealism judgment wisdom experience stamina or persistence we don't learn life skills we don't learn in formation to make us more rigorous buyers and more rigorous citizens nader said adding that it would be upsetting to the power structure if students started learning what actually occurs b&w soderlind reaction to the recent inter fraternity judiciary committee ijc sanctions against sammy sig ep lambda chi and beta for alcohol abuses during bid m handling the trial as a positive move m lehigh s discplinary process residence halls council president marjorie paine said student par ticipation m the hearings will help students m general to behave more i don't know how much anything is going to change as a result of this but at least we've got people thinking that's what we really want to do marshall wenrich former ifc chairman day parties is fairly favorable among greek presidents student leaders and faculty many students viewed the ijc's role responsibly toward alcohol faculty responses favored the ijc responsibility and decisions m the discipline process despite the serious nature of the charges however an apathetic attitude prevailed among most faculty interviewed many professors were unaware of the ijc sanctions others merely refused to comment faculty feel this issue was a problem affecting students handled by students and reacted to by students with virtually no input from the faculty r.w kraft metallurgy and materials engineering professor summed up faculty
