included more productive use of the forum's courtesy of the floor for the influx of new ideas office hours for elected forum members of living groups so that people know who they are and where to find them and the periodic set up of a table in the university center during lunch hours to answer questions and receive feedback tions which have changed to an alternate system have found that their cost per meal has risen sharply the cost of lehigh's meals are in the bottom third when compared to competing institutions the dining committee which is made up primarily of students is reviewing the meal plan system this semester for changes to be made metz said problems with changing to an alternate system include computer change-over costs which metz estimated to be between 30,000 and 40,000 and management problems that arise from the difficulty in forecasting who'sgoing to eat when i think our system is better than a lot of other schools such as moravian and lafayette colleges which only have one meal plan said gary dean student chairman of the dining committee in terms of student flexibility i feel it is rather limited because you can only eat certain meals whatever plan you choose by changing from the current vali dine system the student would have more flexibility than ever before but strong student support is needed to make the change dean said ninety-five percent of any changes in the food ser vice are a result of student input any thing that is wrong or needs change should be brought to the attention of the dining committee by teresa kilcullen meal plans of competing institutions may provide more flexibility for the stu dent but through the university's cur rent system we can provide the most economical and well-rounded meal sys tem possible richard metz director of auxiliary services said the current system entails selecting a meal plan from the following choices 21 meals 3 meals 7 days a week , 17 meals saturday breakfast sunday dinner and all weekday meals 15 meals breakfast lunch and dinner on week days 10 meals lunch and dinner on weekdays and 5 meals either all week day lunches or dinners one proposal for a new system similar to one used at other schools is a point system whereby each student would purchase a certain number of meal points for a semester and use these points for cafeteria food snack bar food and bookstore food another proposal is a system in which a certain number of meals per week would be chosen before the semester but the student would have the choice to eat whichever meals he desired unlike the university's current system in which one is obligated to a certain breakfast lunch and dinner composition we have a very good meal-plan pro gram ' metz said we try and do as many things as possible investigate problems with campus lighting a subcommittee for campus safety and lighting was established at the meet ing with eric neu 84 aschairman this subcommittee's major concern will be the establishment of a women's escort service on campus there is a need for female students to become more aware that rape is a reality on campus even if it is not publicized said one student during
