at the last forum xiii meeting they will be assisted by secretary treasurer amy hohman 84 and trus tee representatives dave bailin 84 bob raffo 84 donald ryan professor of geology and john wood professor of metallurgy who were also elected on wednesday mahoney listed increasing non-forum member participation closer communi cations with student leaders and mak ing the forum a strong voice representing all campus concerns as her goals as co-chairman both mahoney and schulze said they will try to make sure that the smaller forum with its representative structure is working productively the reduced size will have to be more efficient each person will have to work harder and make more productive use of their time mahoney said it's no secret that with 30 students we'll need a lot more deny him tenure on two grounds first he charged the adminis tration did not properly follow the proce dures in procedures rules and regulations pr&r , which outlines the tenure process second tobak claimed the administration had no compelling reason to overturn the departmental vote the committee failed to sustain the charges according to pr&r the faculty have the major responsibility in determin ing an individual's membership in the faculty and that the administration shall concur with the faculty decision except for compelling reasons these reasons must fall within the three crite edpol recommends plans for decision-making course the education policy committee edpol voted wednesday to require all freshmen in the college of arts and science to take arts and science i the 18 advisers assigned to freshmen will serve as instructors for the course see edpol page 8 fail basis the course will be worth one credit hour and will be required for all freshman arts and science college stu dents instructors for the course which will meet once a week for two hours will be the 18 advisers assigned to freshman frankel said department of psychology chairman william newman who also presented the issue to edpol explained that arts and science 1 would be an important part of the freshman experience because it would primarily serve to make schedul ing and career choices easier newman emphasized that the purpose of the course is to confront the issue of what by lori soderlind the education policy committee edpol has approved of the recommen dation to require all freshman arts and science college students to take a gen eral decision-making course arts and science 1 the plan was presented wednesday to the committee by associate dean of the college of arts and sciences barbara frankel who requested immediate con sideration for the course frankel would like the course to be scheduled for all students enrolled in the college of arts and science entering the university in the fall of 83 according to the course outline arts and science 1 will be offered on a pass ifc plans greek week with several alterations mahoney schulze named as forum xiv co-chairman by beau stacom this year the university's greek week tradition has been altered slightly according to interfraternity council ifc social chairman steve may 84 may said that the alterations will enhance the competition in the events held during greek week he said that the ifc expanded the number of placed positions from five to six and changed the point system so that people who are consistently coming in sixth place during the week still have a chance to win — sixth place still receives a lot of points we're decreasing the point spread between the top teams because in the past it seemed like a
