by lisa pa pa rone the campus life committee of forum xii reviewed aid approved recommen dations for social regulation changes concerning the number of guests at closed parties the number of parties allowed each semester and the time limit for parties the recommendations were made by the social regulations and policy sub committee of campus life co-chaired by neal colligan 83 and robert willi amson professor of social relations it passed unanimously through the committee said martha mahoney 84 co-chairman of the campus life committee the suggested changes in the interim regulations must pass through the full forum at next mondays meeting and will then be considered by university president deming lewis if approved the new regulations will remain in effect until further modifications of per manent policy is formed according to the forum recommendations the social regulations and policy subcommittee has already begun working on a perman ent social code the recommendations that had been discussed and decided upon at earlier meetings of the forum subcommittee included an increase in the number of guests allowed at a closed party from 40 to 80 the subcommittee decided to keep the maximum number of closed week night parties at one a week per house any night of the week and keep the time limit at midnight the time restriction is hoped to instigate a change in students patterns to going out and getting back earlier in the night so as not to disrupt class attendance and participation after a pubnight members said barbara frankel associate professor of social relations said i've even had students fall asleep in my friday morning classes there was a general agreement of the forum subcommittee that weekend par ties could continue after 2 a.m if alcohol were not being served anymore although the limited number of open parties allowed for each house was cited by colligan as a cause for larger more crowded parties the subcommittee sup ported continuance of the three parties per semester rule colligan summed up one of the sub committee's reasons for maintaining this rule by saying because the wee kend after the meeting of the forum is lafayette weekend and a lot of the fra ternities have saved their third party for that weekend they would feel rushed to have a fourth party if the rule were changed see code page 10 lafayette rivalry causes concern for both schools by jeff eichenfikli violent behavior at the lehigh lafayette footbull game including the destruction of the goalposts before the end of the fourth quarter will result in suspension of students and possible dis ciplinary action against entire fraterni ties said dean of students william quay at a meeting tuesday of leaders from both schools the college presidents of both schools have agreed the matter is serious enough to jeopardize the series quay said i have had meetings with the trustees and they're very serious last year over 2,600 worth of damage was done to lafayette's fisher field as fans tore down the posts with less than two minutes left in the game tuesday's meeting was just one of many held during the past two weeks to plan for the annual contest the topic was a major three major things and the signs look good for further redevelopment he said according to harper there is a strong harper added that names are currently being submitted for membership consideration this committee is an extremely criti cal one because it would be very instru mental in stimulating redevelopment in the area he said our third area of concentration is the start of building inventories and updat ing of others harper said this inven tory and update is crucial because we have to know what is available for rede velopment what is vacant and the square-footage available possibility that outlet stores modeled after those located in heading will come to the south side the potential for them coming to south bethlehem is quite good harper said we have contacted a number of outlets in reading and we have had responses from nine of them if they come they certainly would act as an excellent anchor for redevelopment harper noted that the second area of concentration is
