p m last wednesday to break all speed records for student settlement of their obligations with the university within the first three days of registration an nounced george b curtis regis trar the total number of students having paid their tuition fees was 1752 up to last night registration figures failed to indicate that the 1796 students so far registered would even approach the record figure of 1,847 of last year at this time the total number of new stu dents up to last night was 471 435 freshman and 36 advanced and special students only 44 students had failed to pay their tuition when the bursar's office closed its gates yesterday according to dean curtis the principle of staggered names was a boon to fast registration and undoubtedly helped in establishing the new record for complete regis tration forty-seven students were in the checking line at noon a week ago monday 56 were in line on tues day at 3:30 p m and 42 were present when the check was made at 11 a m on wednesday o minimum is set on nya earnings ruling says workers must net 10 monthly a federal government regula tion requires that all national youth administration workers earn a minimum of ten thanksgiv ing day the third idea is the same as the second with the addition that one day be taken from the christmas holidays the fourth plan is to have clas ses on the 23 and the regularly scheduled vacation nov 30 through dec 2 investigation will continue and the facts will be presented at the faculty meeting on oct 2 o price hall leads in grade averages university average rises to new heights as the scholastic average of the university rose to new heights last semester price hall led all living groups with an average of 2.893 the smallest of lehigh's dormi tories topped leonard hall who thus lost the scholastic leadership for the second time in the past 15 semesters section e of the town group ran third with an average of 2.427 while pi lambda phi in fourth po sition led all fraternities the university average jumped to a new high of 1.9617 seventy of the 205 men who were on scholastic probation last semester were dropped as a result of failing more than four semester officials was to have a holiday on nov 23 and thanksgiving vacation on dec 1 and 2 the second was to give students vacation on nov 23 30 and dec 1 and 2 this plan amounts to the regular vacation plus thanksgiv ing day the third idea is the same as the second with the addition that one day be taken from the christmas holidays the fourth plan is to have clas ses on the 23 and the regularly scheduled vacation nov 30 through dec 2 investigation will continue and the facts will be presented at the faculty meeting on oct 2 o price hall leads in grade averages university average rises to new heights as the scholastic average of the university rose to new heights last semester price hall led all living groups with an average of 2.893 the smallest of lehigh's dormi tories topped leonard hall who thus lost the scholastic leadership for the second time in the past 15 semesters section e of the town group ran third with an average of 2.427 while pi lambda phi in fourth po sition led all fraternities the university average jumped to a new high of 1.9617 seventy of the 205 men who were on scholastic probation last semester were dropped as a result of failing more than four semester
