lehigh university brown and white vol 75 — no 45 bethlehem pa — friday april 24 1964 866-0331 artist lamar dodd to speak tuesday artist lamar dodd this year's phi beta kappa visiting scholar will analyze his own work and explain his philosophy of art at lehigh next week dodd who heads the art department of the university of georgia will deliver a public lecture in the osbourne room university center at 8:15 p.m tuesday he also will lead classroom discussions mondav and tuesday and will meet informally with students and faculty tuesday's letcure will be co-sponsored by the lehigh chapter of phi beta kappa the cooperative lecture series mcclintic marshall house the residence halls council and the department of fine arts rhc will sponsor a reception in the faculty lounge after the lecture in a lecture to fine arts classes monday dodd will discuss current american painting the changes that have occurred in american art since 1930 and the artists who have made the united states a leader in the field of painting for the last 20 years man's renewed vision as illustrated by his ability to discriminate aesthetically as well as his reaction to man-made forms of art will be dealt with in a fine arts class on tuesday dodd w-ill illustrate his lectures with slides and paintings ivor d sims hugh p mcfadden leonard j buck leonard p pool four finalists picked in vote for hp queen the 1964 spring houseparty queen will be chosen tonight from among four finalists cheryl joanie judy and liz these four girls pictured on page 3 received the highest num ber of votes in the balloting held wednesday the queen will be chosen by the chaporons during the inter mission between the concert and the dance she will then be crowned by the class of 65 presi dent john harper the finalists are cheryl ger hardt date of richard frederick 65 of phi kappa theta joanie alperin date of philip tagley 64 of kappa alpha judy arnow date of ira polom 65 of pi lambda phi and liz anderson date of rick winter 66 of chi psi also scheduled for tonight is a concert by the four seasons the four lads and the big three in grace hall at 8:30 p.m follow ing the concert johnny and the holidays will provide music for dancing until 1 a.m the four seasons — pictured above are the four seasons one of the most popular recording groups in the country who will present a concert tonight at 8:30 some of their hits include ronnie dawn stay walk like a man and many others three business leaders named lehigh trustees three leaders of american in dustry and business have been named to the board of trustees of lehigh university and one appointed trustee has been elected a corporate trustee ivor d sims vice-president ad ministration of bethlehem steel co has been elected a corporate trustee of the university leonard j buck president of the new york city import-export firm leonard j buck inc and leonard p pool president of air products and chemicals inc were appointed trustees hugh p mcfadden a partner in the bethlehem law firm mc fadden riskin and williams and an appointed trustee of the uni versity since 1959 was elected a corporate trustee to fill the vacancy create by the death of howard s bunn former vice chairman of the board of the union carbide corp buck will fill mcfadden's posi tion as appointed trustee and pool succeeds joseph a fisher retired chairman of the board of the reading company who is also retiring from the board of trustees sims will succeed andrew e buchanan retired dupont executive who will become a corporate member emeritus of the lehigh board of trustees buck son of the late charles a buck a former vice-president of bethlehem steel is a lehigh grad uate class of 1915 he entered the import-export business in 1928 as owner and president of leonard j buck inc a supplier of ores and raw materials to american indus try during world war ii his firm exclusively represented govern ment agencies in the purchases exchange and use of various stra tegic minerals and raw materials from brazil mexico and the soviet union the owner of a successful stable of trotting horses buck has also received recognition as a breeder of cocker spaniels and as a horti culturalist mcfadden received his bachelor of arts degree from lehigh in 1925 and his bachelor of laws degree from the university of pennsyl vania in 1928 he is a member of the lay board of trustees of trinity college washington d c and serves on the board of consultors of the law school of villanova uni versity he is vice president and a mem ber of the board of directors of bethlehem fabricators inc a member of the board of directors of the bethlehem hotel corp and serves as chairman of the board of directors of the union bank and trust company he has been active with various civic and reli gious groups in the lehigh valley area pool founded air products and chemicals inc in 1940 he is a member of numerous business dulicai selected to head b & w for fall semester durst business manager appointments to next semester's brown and white staff were announced wednesday by the executive board members of the executive board will be james f dulicai f'6s editor-in-chief david s lewandowski 65
