arcadia voted unanimously wednesday night for a resolution divorcing student parking violations from the university's demerit system the motion will now be presented to the faculty if the new proposal is enacted successively heavy fines will be imposed for the first three violations accompanied by three written warnings from the buildings and grounds department at the present time students are notified in writing only after they have received a demerit for three violations the proposal would impose a loss of driving privileges for thirty days on the fourth violation the next violation would bring a loss of driving privileges for the remainder of the academic year if viola tions occur in following years only one is necessay to effect suspen sion of privileges for the remainder of the academic year violations would be cumulative but would not be entered on a student's perma nent record campaign expenditures for the coming arcadia election were also considered at the meeting previously candidates were held to per sonal outlays of not more than 15 and political parties could financi ally back the candidate only up to his 15 limit arcadia ruled wednesday night that a party could spend an un limited amount so long as candidates names are not mentioned hi campaign literature the rule was enacted to apply to the coming elec tion only and the earlier statute was waived it saturday for the 99th game of the lehigh-lafayette football series listeners around the country will gather in front of their radios for play-by-play broadcasts lehigh clubs will bring alumni together for the broadcast in mary land western new york northern ohio southern california and in st louis chicago and pittsburgh the listeners meeting in a variety of clubs offices and homes will hear special director john steckbeck as preparations for tonight's pep rally bonfire and pajama parade moved into high gear enthusiasm is better than i ex pected the freshmen are giving their cooperation 100 per cent he said the festivities begin with the pep rally in grace hall the band will begin to play at 7:15 p.m as freshmen take their seats in sec tion e on the west end steckbeck master of ceremonies will start the proceedings at 7:30 laler the three winners of the skit contest will perform the song fest winner will be announced and the president of the freshman class will be introduced william leckonby director of athletics will introduce the coaches and the team led by the band and the cheer leaders the student body will pro ceed to the upper field of taylor stadium for the bonfire more songs cheers and band music will issue from the assembled group immediately following the fes tivities around the bonfire whose flames must reach g7 feet the pa jama march will form on memor ial drive led by a police escort see frosh page 6 bonfire — members of the class of 1967 begin the lonely vigil to protect the bonfire from any possible marauders who might attempt to light it before tonight with lafayette weekend upon us the fraternities and residence halls are once again displaying dynamic school spirit in scenes which show the leopards being drowned crushed hung dismem bered and emulsified by an ener getic lehigh team phi gamma delta declaring that it's noah's lark for leop ards shows an ark in water with a leopard drowning helplessly be side it alpha chi rho sends a message from lehigh with love the display depicts a lehigh football player pulling a lever which sends a leopard up a ramp and drops him into an atomic reactor pi kappa alpha promises that lehigh will emulsify the leo pards and shows a bottle of le high lestoil being poured on a leopard who appropriately loses his spots for the occasion hoping that lehigh will win its fourth game in a row alpha sig ma phi forges the chain of vic tory which represents the 99th and 100 th links in the lehigh-laf ayette rivalry theta delta chi following the same theme urges that in this year of records let's break another one and shows a lehigh player smashing a large record alpha tau omega upon visiting a cemetery says ask not for whom the bell tolls it tolls for thee a figure of death stands with a dead leopard next to an open grave in the background are three lafayette gravestones by karl knudson and william reamy already a record labeled 60 61 and 62 also burying the leopards are the men at sigma phi who pre sent a moving lehigh back charg ing a lafayette lineman who falls into an open grave as he does a gravestone pops up see displays page 8 arcadia seeking change in student parking rates by william dwyer the total of 3,369.30 contribut ed to the campus chest drive this year far exceeds the donations received in any previous year despite the record high contri butions the goal of 3,500 has not yet been reached according to chairman ron kahlow 65 how ever we will make our goal a preliminary report by the campus chest committee cites two reasons why the goal is still attainable for the past several days late returns have been aver aging ore than 100 a day and to date nine living groups have not submitted donations chest total nears goal the freshmen response was overwhelming this year not only did seven freshmen living groups place in the top ten but the lowest freshmen per man contribution of the top ten this year far surpassed the highest freshmen per man con tribution in all previous years the upperclass living dorms contributed far less per man than the freshmen or fraternities this year more than half the upper rlav living sections contributed less than one dollar per man the two exceptions were taylor e and leonard hall fraternity response was similar to previous years the average broadcast of game aired to many alumni per man contribution ran between 1.25 and 2.25 per man due to the overwhelming response of the frosh however the fraternities were pushed further down on the per man contribution list in the last three years 3 to 5 fraternities placed in the top ten while none qualified for top priority tickets this year the faculty contributed an un precedented 206.00 kahlow praised the individual living group solicitors i am firmly convinced that the success of the drive can be directly attributed to the hard work of the individual solicitors i would per sonally like to thank them for a tremendous job kahlow said an important project en tit campus chest budget will be sponsorship of tuition for a cuba 1 student ifc has consented to give the student free board next semester income produced by the campus chest wrestle-offs wil not be aval able this year because of lack of depth on the wrestling team coach leeman feels that a good performance might be expected next year with the large number of frosh but for wrestling
