committee he was also a member of the alexander hamil ton club and the chemical so ciety at one time secretary of the latter the musical clubs and band continued on page four recently announced results of the carnegie comprehensive exam inations given to all seniors in the pennsylvania colleges may 7 and 8 1928 place lehigh first among all engineering colleges first among the colleges of business administra tion third in the colleges which present courses in arts andscience and with a general rating of fourth among the 49 colleges and univer sities which gave the tests at the recent atlantic city meeting of the association of col leges and secondary schools of the middle atlantic states and mary land dr learned of the carnegie foundation for the advancement of teaching and dr wood of col umbia university discussed the re sults of the college achievement test given in the pennsylvania col leges the results as presented were reduced to graphical form so that it is possible at a glance to comprehend the relative standing of the various colleges and of var ious auxiliary studies based thereon while the results of the test are confidential the president of each college has been notified of the placing of his own institution it is gratifying to note that in 49 col leges which gave the test lehigh stands fourth in the total score it is even more interesting however to note that lehigh's senior engin eers stood first in the list of the en gineering students in the eight in stitutions having fully organized engineering curricula and that the students in lehigh's college of bus iness administration stood first among students in this field among the eight colleges having fully or ganized curricula in that subject lehigh students in the college of arts and science stood third among the arts students in the list of 40 colleges of the state giving a b de grees the achievement test favored those students who were pursuing courses in the liberal arts as a ■consequence the total scores made by engineering and business ad ministration students fell somewhat below those made by arts students for this reason and in view of the fact that the arts men at lehigh numbered approximately 25 percent of the total group taking the exam ination the university total score dropped to fourth place despite the fact that it stood first in engineer ing first in business administration and third in arts despite the fact that the test slightly favored the arts students the median scores for the different groups of students varied less than might have been anticipated in this connection it is interesting to note that the highest recorded score made by any senior in the state was given to r max goepp jr who received the degree of bach elor of science in chemistry at le high last june and who has just been awarded a rhodes scholar ship from the state of pennsylva nia among the various studies that were made as a result of this test it is interesting to note that the highest total scores were obtained by those seniors who were 18 years of age and that the total score de creased with each succeeding year until it reached a minimum for those who were 24 years of age for those who were beyond 24 years the results were slightly higher but not nearly so high as those obtained by the very young continued on page four lyter attends national pi results of the carnegie comprehensive exam inations given to all seniors in the pennsylvania colleges may 7 and 8 1928 place lehigh first among all engineering colleges first among the colleges of business administra tion third in the colleges which present courses in arts andscience and with a general rating of fourth among the 49 colleges and univer sities which gave the tests at the recent atlantic city meeting of the association of col leges and secondary schools of the middle atlantic states and mary land dr learned of the carnegie foundation for the advancement of teaching and dr wood of col umbia university discussed the re sults of the college achievement test given in the pennsylvania col leges the results as presented were reduced to graphical form so that it is possible at a glance to comprehend the relative standing of the various colleges and of var ious auxiliary studies based thereon while the results of the test are confidential the president of each college has been notified of the placing of his own institution it is gratifying to note that in 49 col leges which gave the test lehigh stands fourth in the total score it is even more interesting however to note that lehigh's senior engin eers stood first in the list of the en gineering students in the eight in stitutions having fully organized engineering curricula and that the students in lehigh's college of bus iness administration stood first among students in this field among the eight colleges having fully or ganized curricula in that subject lehigh students in the college of arts and science stood third among the arts students in the list of 40 colleges of the state giving a b de grees the achievement test favored those students who were pursuing courses in the liberal arts as a ■consequence the total scores made by engineering and business ad ministration students fell somewhat below those made by arts students for this reason and in view of the fact that the arts men at lehigh numbered approximately 25 percent of the total group taking the exam ination the university total score dropped to fourth place despite the fact that it stood first in engineer ing first in business administration and third in arts despite the fact that the test slightly favored the arts students the median scores for the different groups of students varied less than might have been anticipated in this connection it is interesting to note that the highest recorded score made by any senior in the state was given to r max goepp jr who received the degree of bach elor of science in chemistry at le high last june and who has just been awarded a rhodes scholar ship from the state of pennsylva nia among the various studies that were made as a result of this test it is interesting to note that the highest total scores were obtained by those seniors who were 18 years of age and that the total score de creased with each succeeding year until it reached a minimum for those who were 24 years of age for those who were beyond 24 years the results were slightly higher but not nearly so high as those obtained by the very young continued on page four lyter attends national pi
