delivered the talk to the wilkes-barre rotary club tuesday according to davey the business man's impression of the college stu dent is as follows 1 parties dances and other social functions are his chief concern in life 2 he usually spends his nights carousing and drinking 3 he spends his spare time in bull session 4 he is care-free and takes nothing ser iously and 5 he dislikes his pro fessors davey claimed that the opinions formed by the business man are a result of his own experiences at col lege bull sessions are really a great benefit to the college youth exclaimed davey out of them comes a great deal of serious thought the lehigh university speakers bureau is supported by delta om icrdn theta the student who spends his nights drinking and having a good time usually flunks out in should be mailed not later than decem ber 18 and so on allowing two days for every day the card must travel the college humor's intercolle giate straw vote illustrates fairly well that son and daughter in col lege generally vote the ticket that father votes states the new stu dent herbert hoover carried the colleges in the east and the west al smith carried the colleges of most of the south how the students would vote this year was one of the puzzles of a many sided campaign on the one cide was a college graduate on the other side was an alumnus of the sidewalks of new york but there is nothing to indicate that this was a deciding factor anywhere altho the college graduate was victorious both eastern and western students gave their votes to hoover stu dents of ten southern states gave theirs to smith prejudices and be liefs were not overcome by educa tion and sound reasoning of ma ture minds this contention is car ried out by the straw vote which the new student conducted in 1924 satisfaction with the two old parties is more marked in the last election than ever before in 1924 two hundred college professors vot ed about evenly for the two leading candidates today sons and daugh ters of these men voted the same tickets as their fathers the votes of future college men and women will probably be decided by the choice of their parents subscriptions to the red cross ar eincreasing daily and the red and white buttons are coming more in evidence several fraternities have assessed their members and so are able to report a one-hundred percent membership the alumni memorial building is one hundred percent with thirty-one subscrip tions fred trafford is soliciting the faculty successfully a repre sentative is stationed in every living group the band for rutgers and la fayette games will consist of 72 men instead of the usual 64 ar rival of additional uniforms has made it possible to put a larger contingent on the field the marching onto the field has also been changed a snappy drill started off by eight trumpeters in front and an l formation will be followed in marching down the field during the halves the band will play in addition to the reg ular marches the rutgers and lehigh alma maters and as is the custom it will form an r for rutgers a friend who saw the band perform during the last few games has donated 50 coming events industrial vote illustrates fairly well that son and daughter in col lege generally vote the ticket that father votes states the new stu dent herbert hoover carried the colleges in the east and the west al smith carried the colleges of most of the south how the students would vote this year was one of the puzzles of a many sided campaign on the one cide was a college graduate on the other side was an alumnus of the sidewalks of new york but there is nothing to indicate that this was a deciding factor anywhere altho the college graduate was victorious both eastern and western students gave their votes to hoover stu dents of ten southern states gave theirs to smith prejudices and be liefs were not overcome by educa tion and sound reasoning of ma ture minds this contention is car ried out by the straw vote which the new student conducted in 1924 satisfaction with the two old parties is more marked in the last election than ever before in 1924 two hundred college professors vot ed about evenly for the two leading candidates today sons and daugh ters of these men voted the same tickets as their fathers the votes of future college men and women will probably be decided by the choice of their
