powerful crimson team in the har vard stadium tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 this is the first time in many years that lehigh has met johnny harvard in this sport and although the reports from the cam bridge camp indicate that coach hodween's men are confident of success the tate machine is out to win cerning harvard the lehigh team arrived in bos ton this morning at 7:15 and was not idle during the day this after noon from 2 to 3 o'clock the men went through a light but thorough signal drill in the harvard sta dium the brown and white men will leave for home shortly after midnight saturday arriving here at 11:20 sunday morning coaches discount rumors con persistant rumors circulated rap idly around football circles this week that coach horwen would start the second team against le high tomorrow and save his first string stars for the latter games with perm holy cross and yale however no harvard varsity man will leave cambridge this week and no doubt will see action before the game is over austy and his assis tants are taking no stock in these reports since several of the crim son players who played against dartmouth last week are on the starting line-up for tomorrow and as at lehigh there is very little dis tinction between a first and second team guarnaccia ' the crimson back who together with french starred in the dartmouth game wilj be on the field when the opening whistle blows harvard has a powerful team harvard this season has the strongest team it has had in many years and last week humbled the powerful dartmouth eleven by a score of 19-7 the harvard offense is particularly efficient and in last week's game french and guarnac cia ripped through the green line time after time for substantial gains the crimson forward wall is made up of experienced players and averages in weight about the same as that of the brown and white team the new england team also has an effective aerial attack and to lehigh this is the most dreaded part of the harvard offense during the practices this week austy drilled the men persistently on forward pass defense and the brown and white team seems to have improv ed considerably in checking this particular type of attack on wed nesday the varsity teams had a de fensive scrimmage against the scrubs who put on the harvard plays the scrubs scored three touchdowns and for a time it ap peared as though the brown and white defense was hopelessly weak against the crimson plays twice lamb one of austy's freshman backs of last year whirled around end for gains that resulted in touch downs the third score was made by virtue of a completed forward pass by galvin to lamb the following day the varsity again has a session in defense against the horween attack and much improvement was shown the tate machine knows exactly what to expect when it lines up against harvard tomorrow the brown and white line-up will be the same as that which started against muhlenberg on saturday with the exception of van blarcom bob bennett is replacing van in the backfield two varsity men out for season according to the reports from the lehigh camp two varsity play ers will be lost for the remainder of the season they are purvis and jack levitz purvis who has continued on page four j b fagan's farce and so to bed depicting a fictitious episode in the life of samuel pepys the author of the famous diary was read by members of the department of physical education last year there were in all 50 sep arate intramural contests held in volving a total expenditure of 282.00 lehigh students send home on the average 553 suit cases of laundry every week for which the bethlehem post office collects about 102.56 in fees according to postmaster w h thatcher of the south bethlehem post office the post office is well equipped to handle this number provided the yare not all brought in just before closing time the parcel post window closes at 7 o'clock and at that time there are usually a large number of freshmen in line to mail from one to four laundry bags mr thatcher suggested that students of the university send their freshmen down a little earlier to avoid conjesting the post of fice at closing time mr thatcher has done much to speed up the special delivery mail of the students previously it was necessary that a special de livery letter be delivered only to the person to whom it was addressed this meant that in some cases the student would not receive his let ter until a half day late because he had been in class when the mes senger had tried to deliver it it is now possible through the efforts of mr thatcher for a student to have his letter delivered even though he is not present to receive it personally students have ofte nlost packages or letters in the mail and have complained to the post office in tracing the article the post office usually sends the student a blank form to be filled out with the de scription of the article and to be returned to the post office as soon as possible mr thatcher states that because the students are lax in returning these forms the investigation is delayed making it harder for the department to trace the article john w maxwell jr 26 assis tant secretary of the lehigh powerful crimson team in the har vard stadium tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 this is the first time in many years that lehigh has met johnny harvard in this sport and although the reports from the cam bridge camp indicate that coach hodween's men are confident of success the tate machine is out to win cerning harvard the lehigh team arrived in bos ton this morning at 7:15 and was not idle during the day this after noon from 2 to 3 o'clock the men went through a light but thorough signal drill in the harvard sta dium the brown and white men will leave for home shortly after midnight saturday arriving here at 11:20 sunday morning coaches discount rumors con persistant rumors circulated rap idly around football circles this week that coach horwen would start the second team against le high tomorrow and save his first string stars for the latter games with perm holy cross and yale however no harvard varsity man will leave cambridge this week and no doubt will see action before the game is over austy and his assis tants are taking no stock in these reports since several of the crim son players who played against dartmouth last week are on the starting line-up for tomorrow and as at lehigh there is very little dis tinction between a first and second team guarnaccia ' the crimson back who together with french starred in the dartmouth game wilj be on the field when the opening whistle blows harvard has a powerful team harvard this season has the strongest team it has had in many years and last week humbled the powerful dartmouth eleven by a score of 19-7 the harvard offense is particularly efficient and in last week's game french and guarnac cia ripped through the green line time after time for substantial gains the crimson forward wall is made up of experienced players and averages in weight about the same as that of the brown and white team the new england team also has an effective aerial attack and to lehigh this is the most dreaded part of the harvard offense during the practices this week austy drilled the men persistently on forward pass defense and the brown and white team seems to have improv ed considerably in checking this particular type of attack on wed nesday the varsity teams had a de fensive scrimmage against the scrubs who put on the harvard plays the scrubs scored three touchdowns and for a time it ap peared as though the brown and white defense was hopelessly weak against the crimson plays twice lamb one of austy's freshman backs of last year whirled around end for gains that resulted in touch downs the third score was made by virtue of a completed forward pass by galvin to lamb the following day the varsity again has a session in defense against the horween attack and much improvement was shown the tate machine knows exactly what to expect when it lines up against harvard tomorrow the brown and white line-up will be the same as that which started against muhlenberg on saturday with the exception of van blarcom bob bennett is replacing van in the backfield two varsity men out for season according to the reports from the lehigh camp two varsity play ers will be lost for the remainder of the season they are purvis and jack
