delaware 19 ; stevens 12f lehigh 11 muhlenberg 9 swarthmore 8 ; johns hopkins 5 ; haverford 3 ; dickinson 2 ; gettys burg 2 although lehigh was represent ed by the best material obtainable it was not able to better the well rounded development of rutgers and lafayette as shown in the meet mention might be made of robert crawford the great la fayette middle-distance runner who played the spectacular figure by winning three firsts for the maroon and white the mile two mile and half-mile thus scoring 15 of the total 31 points credited to the easton team continued on third page bray of lehigh secured third place against crawford in the mile herrington cleared the bar at 15 ft 10 7-8 in thus winning first chi psi five downs alpha chi rho backed by a team which gave an air-tight defense in the pinches and came through with the neces sary hits at the right time junie light pitched the fresh man team to victory over the la fayette frosh on saturday after noon dawson played a great game for the home team his two hits two stolen bases and two runs contributed not a little to the vic tory comrie's home run was the outstanding hit of the game as it went to deep left the team started badly allow ing lafayette to count twice in the opening session before tightening up lehigh waited only until their half of the second before evening up the score mcfadden was safe on an error and advanced on seh ring's single both men scored when gainey crashed through with another single over second base the rally was cut short as the next two men fanned and light popped out lehigh added another in the third on dawson s single and mcfad den s hit which scored dawson after he had stolen second two more runs were added by the home team in 4be fifiii daw sun again ' hit safely and stole second len non flied out pent doubled scor ing dawson and crossed the plate a moment later on mcfadden s sacrifice in their half of the sixth lafa yette shoved two runs over the plate with two down ; together rendered several numbers | following the dance the clubs ' were lodged in the hotel berk '■shire and at the y m c a continued on second page swimming letters the next opponent on the base ball schedule is villa nova to be played on the home grounds to morrow afternoon the team resumed their winning streak last saturday when syra cuse was decisively defeated the men seem to have f oun,d their bat ting eye and are hitting the ball at a fast clip now mathag has been hitting hard all year and his season average to date is almost 500 which is remarkably high coach keady seems to have solved the problem of right field as sheedy has been playing a very good brand of ball the last few games larkin has been taking savaria s place in left field while the latter has been holding down second villa nova has taken seven of the ten games played so far which includes victories over ursinus 13-1 catholic univ 20-6 and gettysburg 5-1 villa nova comes here with a team which is said to be fairly strong but the team will play hard to prevent a repetition of the sur prise they got from seton hall in view of the approaching game with lafayette johnson will be saved lees will probably be on th mound for the home team al though light may get a chance if the game proves easy the team which starts the game tomorrow will probably be the same as that which played with syracuse last saturday with the exception of the pitcher the game will be called as usual at 3 45 o clock navy triumphs over lehigh in tennis lehigh gunmen outclass rutgers in a game marked by the heavy hitting of the winning team le high defeated syracuse saturday by a score of 8-4 the game was played at syracuse before a good sized crowd the lehigh team played well and outclassed the orange players by a considerable margin * while syracuse got four runs these came in only after the brown and white had piled up a large lead john son who did the twirling for le high held the home team to five hits none of them for extra bases every man on the lehigh team got at least one hit savaria and mathag led the attack with three hits apiece two of the former's hits were doubles the team field ed well as a whole ; g j roach 22 secretary w c compher 23 treasurer at the last meeting of the athletic committee the following men were awarded with l's for their services on the swiming team to pat damiani was awarded a large l due to his being in tercollegiate champion plunger those who were given small letters are captain rosenmiller manager sugar van nort stewart lewine and jacobs they are the first men to receive their letters in swimming at le high of these jacobs and van nort the dash men will return to college next year stewart's re turn is doubtful the team's prospects for next season are very promising the schedule which manager farring ton is drawing up is expected to include meets with rutgers cath olic univ johns hopkins swarth more haverford army navy c c of n y and probably one or two in addition the placing of army and navy on this list should be of especial interest as it shows that this new sport is attracting attention in other circles as well as lehigh the brown and white lacrosse men had little difficulty in defeat in the fast pennsylvania team by the decisive score of 12 goals to 3 the red and blue men had little chance against the lehigh stick wielders who outplayed them in every phase of the game and were ahead from the start this game eliminated the university of penn sylvania as a possibility for the intercollegiate lacrosse champion ship this year the philadelphians had little to display and did not score in the first half lehigh on the other hand was flashy in spots and man aged to find the net seven times during the first period during the second half spanagel who played a wonderful game at goal for the brown and white men was taken out of the game due to ill ness and parker who took his place although playing a clever game allowed smullen to scrape in a goal during a scrimmage twice more smullen found the net before the end of the period scoring pennsylvania's only points ■red jenness played a clever game and displayed skill at handl ing the ball while don schulz and dick schubert did most of the scoring for the brown and white team smullen was the star for the red and blue team the lehigh lacrosse warriors have shown up exceptionally well so far this season and the game with swarthmore scheduled for next saturday will in all prob ability go a long way towards de ciding the championship for this year the line-ups of last saturday's game follows lehigh spanagel g ; hocker for lewis referee : estes time of periods : 35 minutes the dansant college meeting the kappa sigmas introduced a novelty saturday afternoon when they staged a lively the dansant in drown hall following the perm lacrosse game music was fur nished by a student group yclept the jazzland novelty six the occasion proved very successful on friday may 14 the lehigh marksmen far outclassed those of rutgers when the latter were de feated on the packer hall range by a score of 949 to 828 this shows the progress that the rifle squad has been making and that the class of shooting put out by the local squad is up to the mark the average score of the lehigh team was 190 whereas that of rutgers was 166 this is the best team score put out by the local gunners since rifle practice was started this spring lafayette has been challenged twice but has re plied neither time the individual scores of the rutgers meet are : lehigh holmes . 192 lewando 191 compher 190 ferguson 188 cohn 188 total 949 rutgers i y gidley 180 smith 164 e l gidley 164 fouquet 162 lake 158 total 828 the lehigh tennis team was de feated by the naval academy racketmen on saturday afternoon at annapolis being unable to im merge victorious in any of the matches the navy team is com posed entirely of men who have won championships all over the country and all due credit is given to the lehigh net men for putting up stiff opposition in all of the matches estes was the only lehigh man who forced his opponent to three sets in order to win the match by taking the first set 6-4 in the doubles beck and warner desper ately fought to win from the navy men the match being the scene of some remarkable shots but their opponents finally won out 12-10 and 6-4 singles : yeager navy defeated beck 6-4 6-1 mclver navy de feated estes 4-6 6-4 6-0 watt navy defeated hall 6-4 6-1 waidlick navy defeated warner 6-4 6-2 doubles : mclver and watt navy defeated hall and estes 6-3 6-4 yeager and hunt navy defeated beck and warner 12-10 6-4 tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock the lehigh team will meet the tennis aggregation from perm state on the university courts with the practice obtained from encountering the strong navy team this meet will no doubt be hotly contested throughout perm state has an exceptional squad this year and the meet will display an excellent brand of tennis playing an important college meeting will take place friday morning in the assembly room of packer hall it has been called mainly to work up some old pep for the lafa yette smoker and for the big game the following day at the same time the election of the assistant managers of both basketball and wrestling will be held brown and white
