middle states in the annual middle states collegiate athletic conference championship meet at rutgers college new brunswick n.j lehigh will have an entry in every event math the exception of the broad jump and 880-yard dash trials were held last wed nesday for men to qualify in this meet so lehigh will be represented by the best that there is in track material coach kanaly has been hard at work gettting the men in shape and the team has not been in such fine shape all season as it is now the weather has been very en couraging and there is a bright out-look for the brown and white on saturday so far this season the track team has not gotten properly under way partly due to the adverse weather conditions but now every one seems to have the spirit to come back and show what is in lehigh material among the prominent officials that have been invited to serve at the meet and have accepted are samuel j dallas president of die a.a.u who will act as referee mr dallas along with john j baseball team will meet syracuse on the latter s home grounds at syracuse the team will leave this afternoon the nine has shown improve ment in recent games and is now going at a winning clip although not forced to extend themselves in the game wednesday the men handled the ball cleanly and played good baseball johnson will probably get the pitching assignment saturday he should be in good form lb ; allen 2 ; irwin p class of 23 celebrate in annual feast the freshman baseball team walloped the moravian college re serves to the tune of 18 to 1 in a seven-inning game wednesday afternoon on the moravian college field the frosh were in mid sieason form and literally played circles around the rather un polished moravian team who were not dangerous at any stage of the game kehoe the shining light for the moravians brought in their lone tally when in the fifth inning he got to first on an error stole second and came in on maas single the freshmen struck their stride in the third when dawson started off with a two-bagger lennon fol lowed him to first on an error o'donnell singled and yott sent them all romping across the plate with a three-bagger later an other error and a two-base hit by garber brought in two more runs garber came in on sehring's single making the sixth run in the inning the m c reserves were retired with little trouble and the fresh men again gathered in four runs in the seventn the lehigh year lings made another final spurt and with the aid of two two-baggers by comrie and schaeffer and four singles piled up six more pointers the freshman team showed good form throughout the game especi ally in hitting and wholesale sub stitutions by manager conroy in the sixth inning seemed to have no deteriorating effect whatever on the smoothness of the play the box score : moravian college reserves tennis team to encounter navy lehigh defeated the baseball team representing ursinusi last wednesday afternoon by a score of 8-0 the game w r as played on tay lor field and a fairly large body of students was on hand to see the game besides a scatterng of towns people the oollegeville players were outclassed from start to finish and from the opening inning there was little doubt as to the outcome of the game lees and light did the twirling for the home team and between them held ursinus to four hits lees pitched the first seven innings and light the last two and both looked good on the mound it was light's first appearance on the mound for the varsity and while a trifle unsteady being reached for a double and two bases on balls he tightened in the pinches striking out four men a regrettable feature of the game was the injury to liston s finger in the eighth a foul tip striking him on a finger of his throwing hand he will probably be out of the game for some time kline finished the game mathag led lehigh s attack with four hits out of five times up in cluded in these was a double and a home run over the right field wall sheedy came through with two singles and most of the other men on the team got a hit for the visitors connor did most of the hitting with two doubles in the opening inning the visitors went out in order savaria at the kurtz restaurant last wednesday night by all in dications this was one of the liv liest and most successful banquets that the lehigh yearlings have ever had despite the efforts of the sophomores the president was there to preside at the feast and the frosh were very well satisfied with everything in general the modern slogan of b y 0 l was religiously lived up to from all reports and the banquet scene was an uproarous stage of amuse ment and fun dr drinker captain lang bosey reiter and mercer tate president of the senior class were the speakers and the yearlings gave them a rousing reception don white the president of the 23 class also made a short speech the banquet was a great success and the freshmen returned late at night well satisfied with the whole affair on saturday afternoon the le high tennis team will meet the navy team at annapolis this match will no doubt be the hottest contested one of the season as the navy presents an unusually strong aggregation but while the navy is strong the lehigh team is one of the best turned out here in years and will justly represent their school the lehigh net men have been very unfortunate in having only one meet thus far winning over moravian college 6 to 0 while this match was not sufficient to judge the real merit of the men it elucidated their capabilities five matches of singles and two of doubles will probably be played against the navy the men making the trip are beck warner estes gildersleeve and hall tomorrow afternoon the brown and white lacrosse team will play the second league game of the to the beth lehem collegians in the first game of the three contest series with la fayette staged on the latters field last monday afternoon the final count was 4 to 1 in favor of the eastonians with the exception of the second inning when lehigh skidded and allowed lafayette to chase three of her four runs across the plate the game was airtight and marked with brilliant fielding lehigh fought hard to overcome the lead of her rivals and threatened sev eral rallies that were brought to a close by hair line decisions and one in particular by a one hand catch by welles of savaria's ter rific line drive the game was marked by the usual intensity of feeling that characterizes lehigh and lafayette tilts and the expression of this in tensity broke loose in the eighth inning when for a time a near riot threatened the scene enacted came in lehigh s half of the eighth inning after mathag singled and on a fielder's choice of yap's grounder collided with welles at second in overrunning the bag the latter followed ma thag and made two vicious swings the final one landing on mathag with the latter making no effort to return it getting back to the game it was a pitching battle excepting le high's one bad inning in which swede johnson lehigh s ace was pitted against carney a la fayette southpaw the latter had it on the big swede in pitching strikeouts counting eleven during the fracas but carney's work was somewhat balanced by johnson in allowing less hits than his south paw rival however lafayette's hits came after wierd playing had loaded the sacks and aided in an nexing runs in closely analyzing the game the only two runs earned were two terrific drives for home runs the first coming off the bat of mathag who drove the ball into right center under the bleachers in that territory carney's drive was one of the longest ever seen on march field the ball sailing over the head of mathag in deep center and roll ing to the cinder path at the other end of the field rote weeks after col lege opens and provided that the man must be registered in college before being bid 2 any man may live at the fra ternity houses during the three weeks after the opening of college in which bidding is prohibited 3 a bulletin board shall be placed in drown hall upon which shall be posted the names of those men living at the fraternity houses a man si name must be posted not later than 24 hours after the man takes up his residence at the fraternity house a man's name must be posted at least five j days before he can be bid 4 a copy of the rushing rules shall be placed in the freshman bible andi shall be madte public generally an officer of the inter fraternity council shall announce the rules to the incoming class bn opening day 5 there shall be no rushing out side of the fraternity houses after 8 p.m during the first three weeks of college and a petition shall be presented to the arcadia request ing that the freshmen be ruled off the streets after 8 p.m during that period the plan to give an interfra terity dance on june 9th the night preceding the june hop was dis cussed and it was decided that if a sufficient number of fraternities de cide to run house parties
