uneventful neither team showed a strong offense on the defense the brown and white showed a marked super iority as the contest was play ed under a blistering sun both teams were handicapped and evidently distressed it was a cleanly-played game no penal ties for roughness being in flicted at all the home team started the game with a rush by gaining twice through the line a punt and a recovered fumble placed them in a position to score on the twenty-five yard line how ever st john's took the ball on an intercepted pass two attempts to gain through the line were thrown for losses the ball continued to zigzag back and forth in the brook lyn team's territory during the first half lehigh lost three opportunities to score in the second half st john's threatened to score twice blei intercepted a forward pass and had a seemingly clear field for a touchdown but he was over taken and tackled from the rear by johnston again the visitors almost scored when they fumbled a forward pass in the last few minutes of play on lehigh's goal line both teams resorted to the aerial attack to a great extent although the lehigh line re pulsed most of their opponent's plunges it showed a weakness in savage offensive charging the tackling was quite poor in some stages of the game how ever the diversity of plays and their excellence as shown by the team's attempts gave evidence of a future offensive strength in last saturday's game the brown and white team secured more first downs than did the st john's eleven continued on page two it must be considered that the lehigh gridders the editors of the lehigh review it was decided to change the original plan that of publish ing the magazine monthly to one which would more closely follow the type of other colle giate literary magazines name ly as a quarterly this step has been taken only after it was discovered that the board can not successfully publish eight or nine issues to do this would require almost one hundred per cent support from the student body in regards to both sub scriptions and articles conse quently the members feel that the magazine would present a far greater appeal to the cam pus if four sixty-page issues were published for the benefit of the new men at lehigh it may be re called that the review made its initial appearance last may a june number followed meeting with the equivalent success which was accorded the preced ing one both numbers contain ed interesting articles written by lehigh faculty members and students two pages of pic tures were devoted to each is sue the magazine received instead of studying the theory these courses are under the di rection of prof howland the results of freshman week conducted by the lehigh union are already evident when one notices that the frosh for the most part are traveling about the campus with a pretty good idea where they are go ing the new men seem to be acquainted with the buildings on the campus and likewise to know a bit of lehigh tradi studies but they also were ad dressed one evening by a num ber of leading men in the col lege concerning extra-curricular activities thus they learned the value of outside interests and have already shown an in terest in them continued on page four not only was freshman week a great help to the yearlings but it also helped out in rush ing by enabling all the frater the enrollment for the fall
