teresting talk to members the class of 30 has instigat ed a plan whereby a chemical research fund can be maintain ed for the purpose of paying the expenses of two lehigh graduates who wish to return to the university to carry on some research work the plan for raising the money necessary for such a project is unique but entirely effective as has been proved by results to date it consists in having the men who are taking laboratory courses turn over to the fund their excess lab fees which are returned to them at the end of each semester inasmuch as the amount refunded is an unknown sum for which the majority of men make no definite plans its loss will be of little conse quence to the individual the awarding of the scholarships is to be placed in the hands of a committee of five composed chiefly of the members of the chemistry department but with always a member of the class of 30 on the board the plan was put before the freshman cabinet by stanley adams a special student at the univer sity yet very much interested in the class of 30 the officers of the class and stan adams have been running an exten sive campaign throughout the qualitative analysis sections in order to the easter vacation presidents blood and oiler agreed that a more successful banquet season will result with the provisions that no hostili ties shall commence before the 19th the tuesday after return
