the game is developed to the highest point confident not overconfident game will be hard fought complete scores of lafayette games varsity has developed rapidly since the georgetown game down=river team has a margin of four victories in the games played statement issued by prof h r reiter on eve of great struggle when the football season opened at lafayette this year coach berryman was confronted with the task of developing practically a new team although the team was green and inexperienced they won their opening game with the ambulance unit 20-0 the next saturday they de feated what was considered the strongest ursinus team in years by a 12-6 score their winning streak was broken in the game with rut gers a week later the 33-7 defeat from the jersey eleven seems to have had a demoralizing effect up on the lafayette team for it was the first of a series of overwhelm ing defeats being shut out by muhlenberg university of penn sylvania and swarthmore in the order named the muhlenberg de feat came as a surprise and showed the lack of team work and confi dence which characterizes the lafayette teams the perm game ness for the game was only a prac tice game for perm and lafayette was only able to keep the score down to 27 while perm was putting subs into the game swarthmore rolled up a score of 56 to lafa yette's 0 the lafayette team has good material and when they work to gether as a team and gain confi dence in themselves they will make a better showing the victory over albright last saturday testifies to this statement several men who were out of the game owing to minor injuries re ceived in the early part of the season will be in shape for the game tomorrow and since they have been working together for the season and are developing new plays we should to help beat lafayette don't forget the time 7.30 p.m sharp booster meeting following statement in regard to tomorrow's gridiron contest in which he reviews the development of the two teams up to the big game of the season and predicts that le high will win but not as easily as the comparative scores would indicate : the annual game between lafayette and lehigh to be played on taylor field saturday should not be judged by the comparative scores that the two teams have pro duced this fall in their games al ready played lafayette with a new team composed of men who are absolutely new to college foot ball has been slow at hitting its stride and entirely uncertain all year this has been due to several causes newness and greenness of the men their inexperience and lack of confidence in each other and lack of team work those who have seen the men seem to think that they have the physical ability but have lacked the confidence in them freshman dues payable notice a booster meeting was held in drown hall on wednesday after noon the purpose of which was to practice on the old yells and songs and to instruct the men on how to sing the new songs and give the new yells during the meeting the three best yells of all those handed in during the contest were decided by popular vote the winners of the contest were g l childs 21 first prize m b dittes 20 first prize and m p paret 20 second prize the meeting was attended by more than one hundred and fifty men senior chemist's trip tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock sharp the brown and white eleven trained to the minute will face the team representing lafa yette in an effort to repeat last year's glorious victory judging by the past season's record lehigh should have little trouble in winning by a fair mar gin lafayette has probably had the most disastrous season in her history the team has lost to swarthmore rutgers and pennsyl vania by large scores and was also defeated by muhlenberg 6-0 they have scored victories over albright the lafayete section of the u s a a c and ursinus lehigh on the other hand after having received set backs at the hands of pittsburgh and george town found themselves and have won all the games since played by large scores ~ itxt2ii.wird«ifg wtxa swamped 47-0 the week after they had defeated lafayette lebanon valley p m c and perm state were also defeated by comfortable margins this year's team according to coach keady is all things taken into consideration the best that lehigh has had since he has been in charge of the team the back field composed of w d maginn.es wysocki mccarthy savaria and herrington is undoubtedly the fastest that has represented the brown and white for many years each one is a clever open field runner and with the exception of the last mentioned all are hard hitting low-running line plungers three of them are also accurate forward passers defensively all are excellent tacklers and never fail to bring a runner down in his tracks the only weakness shown this year has been the defence against the forward pass the line offensively is a hard low charging line that has shown wonderful ability to open up large holes the interference on end runs and reverse play given by the line men is said by old lehigh men and by coach keady to be the best that has ever been given by a le high line defensively the line is up to the standard and few gains have been made through them this year an unusual factor this year is the fact that even at this late date the final make-up of the team is in doubt however with the excep tion of right guard and right half back the positions are virtually settled if captain halsted is in shape to play he will undoubtedly start the game at right guard his shoulder is still very weak how ever and it is very doubtful if he can do much scrimmaging in the event of his not playing or of get ting injured a m'aginnes _ will probably be found at the position as he has been alternating with capt halsted at that gloucester n j where incandes cent gas mantles are manufac tured on wednesday the party will spend the day in inspecting the leather plant at frankford pa and will return to bethlehem in the evening the trip promises to be of interest and especial at tention will be paid to the mechani cal and practical phases of the in dustries visited at a senior class meeting held yesterday the senior class book assesment was fixed at eleven dol lars and the dues at four dollars continued on third page lehigh on the other hand had a few men to build a team around but despite this fact the early season
